We are obsessed with Rita’s new garden! 🌹 Her inspiration pictures were from a recent trip to Poland. Our goal was a dusty romantic color palette achieved with white, purple, mauve and rose hues. We used Hydrangeas, ‘Double Play Doozie’ Spirea and ‘My Monet’ dwarf Weigela to anchor the landscape. Reliable perennials like Sedum, Huechera, hosta, lavender, Dicentra eximia, iris and daylilies fill in the seasonal spaces. The result is a garden that blooms from spring to fall with nonstop color.

Cemetery garden year 2. Last night, a customer texted me this picture of the garden I created for her son’s grave. Perennial Echinacea, Phlox, Stella d’oro, Fringed Leaf Bleeding Heart and Sedum with Zinnias, Marigold and Petunias mixed in. Stunning!

Let’s talk about Forsythia. The ones on my property are beginning to flower. The best time to prune them is within a few weeks after they’re done flowering (but don’t prune past mid-July). You can remove one third of the oldest wood or you can prune it to a foot or two above the ground! They grow quickly and aggressively and can tolerate heavy pruning. Forsythia branches hanging to the ground will root. Over time, this creates a “thicket”.

Yesterday was the type of day I’ve been waiting for!😎 An afternoon of weeding and some black mulch for the win! My clients needed some last minute curb appeal for their listing photos. Azure Gardens to the rescue!
