🎒School’s back, and the future is under construction! 🚧

The school year is off to a great start, and we’re excited for another year participating in the Cristo Rey Corporate Work Study Program!

For several years, Southway has proudly participated in the program, helping students gain real-world experience, develop professional skills, and explore career possibilities in construction and beyond.

This year, students from Cristo Rey RT and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School - Baltimore, Maryland are working alongside our Southeast and Northeast teams. We love the fresh perspectives and energy they bring and look forward to supporting their growth throughout the school year.

And what better time than Careers in Construction Month to celebrate a program that’s helping students explore new possibilities and build skills for the future? 🏗️

What does inclusion look like on a construction site? Sometimes, it starts with simply getting to know the people you're working alongside.

Recently, team members came together for a Team Charter meeting to discuss our strengths, communication styles, goals, and what success looks like for the project. We started with a simple question: Tell us something about yourself that isn't on your résumé.

What followed was two hours of stories, laughter, and genuine connection.

We discovered punk rock enthusiasts and Phish fans, different generations, cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. We learned about each other's passions, frustrations, and goals for the future. For those two hours, we weren't focused on titles or responsibilities. We were people getting to know each other, understanding what makes each other tick, and building relationships that will make us a stronger team.

Our team doesn't come together by accident. It's the result, in part, of intentional recruiting and our commitment to creating an environment where people feel valued, respected, and connected.

During Construction Inclusion Week, we're celebrating the people who make Southway what it is and reaffirming our commitment to building teams where everyone feels they belong.

That’s a wrap on the Siemens office project! 🎉 Two phases. 35,753 square feet. A fresh space to connect, collaborate, and get to work.

The Southway team completed a two-phase renovation that transformed Siemens’ office into a modern workplace:

🔹 Phase I: 16,087 SF featuring a sophisticated reception area, executive offices, conference rooms, open work areas, and mini-booths for focused work and informal collaboration.

🔹 Phase II: 19,666 SF of additional workspace, including enclosed offices, conference rooms, restrooms, and a team café.

With Siemens employees continuing to work onsite, careful phasing, clear communication, and close coordination kept construction moving while minimizing disruptions and maintaining a safe workplace.

October is Careers in Construction Month!

There’s no one path to a career in construction. At Southway, over 25 different roles span our office and field teams across the Northeast and Southeast, creating opportunities for people with all kinds of interests, skills, and talents.

Throughout the year, our team connects with students at career fairs and other events, sharing what a future in construction can look like. This month, we’re excited to continue those conversations and help more people discover where a career in construction could take them.

The Southway team hit the road for another career fair, this time bringing a little building talk to Happy Valley!

Our team enjoyed connecting with students at Penn State University during the 2026 Architectural Engineering Career Fair and sharing a glimpse into our people, projects, and career opportunities in commercial construction.

Earlier this week, we said more introductions were coming and we meant it! Meet three of the newest members of Southway’s Northeast team: Ryan, Max, and Tim.

Ryan joins us as an Assistant Superintendent, bringing hands-on experience coordinating crews, planning daily work, and keeping jobsite operations moving. He’s comfortable adapting when conditions change and working through challenges in the field. When he’s away from the jobsite, Ryan volunteers at an animal shelter and enjoys watching football.

Max joins us as a Project Manager. He has guided commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating teams, schedules, budgets, and procurement along the way. He enjoys building strong client relationships and working with project teams to solve challenges as they arise. Outside of work, Max enjoys golf, follows the New York Mets, and is training for a marathon this fall.

Tim joins us as an Assistant Project Manager with experience across real estate development, construction management, estimating, and property operations. He brings a strong understanding of multifamily projects, from evaluating feasibility and costs to managing construction. He also has a particular interest in old buildings and has helped renovate about 10 historic properties in Baltimore City.

There’s a new face at Southway! We’re excited to welcome Jeff to our Northeast team.

With more than 20 years of progressive accounting experience, including over a decade in controller roles, Jeff brings extensive knowledge and leadership to Southway. His expertise spans construction project accounting, treasury and banking management, mergers and acquisitions planning and integration, and process optimization.

Outside the office, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, tackling DIY projects, and caring for his household of rescued animals, which currently includes two dogs, seven cats, and a couple of lizards.

We’re glad to have Jeff on the team and look forward to the experience and perspective he will bring to Southway.
