At $8 a foot, a Ditch Witch JT2020 has to drill 269 feet a day before you make a dollar.

The rig: a 2010 to 2013 JT2020 Mach 1, 83 hp Cummins, 20,000 pounds of pullback. Purple Wave sold 14 of them in the last two years, and the middle price was $51,425.

Per drilling hour, 7 drilling hours in a 10-hour paid day: a 3-man crew with the BLS burden on it, $174.63. Vac trailer, mixer, locator and truck, $22.25. Fuel, $25.53 at EIA's Sep 28, 2026 diesel. Repairs, $17.00. Insurance, 811 and permits, $11.93. Depreciation and interest, $8.43. That is $259.77 a drilling hour, and 67 percent of it is the crew.

Drill 300 feet in a day, an example, and that is $7.31 a foot before bits, potholes and the drive. Sub rates on fiber run $8 to $25 a foot. At $8 the crew has to make 269 feet a day to cover cost. The fuel line is an estimate; Ditch Witch publishes no burn for this rig.

The AT&T logo is being removed from the building. 1010 N St Mary’s in San Antonio is closing. Most of the workers are being relocated to an office building on the far west side of the city. I’m sure many memories were made here.

🦫 International visitors for the World Cup are quickly getting a taste of a Texas treat.

For the duration of the World Cup at Dallas Stadium between June 15 and July 12, a Fort Worth shuttle service will be whisking tourists to the Buc-ee's near Texas Motor Speedway. The Trinity Metro Cowtown Visitor Shuttles will take nervous visitors from Fort Worth’s Central Station and downtown stops to Buc-ee's, not to mention other spots that aren't a gas station like the Tanger Outlets, Six Flags and the Fort Worth Zoo.
