It's Fern Friday! Today's photo is one of our Master Gardener's favorite ferns in their gardens - Arachniodes simplicior, East Indian Holly Fern. It is native to China and Japan. It is evergreen with glossy green fronds with a yellow stripe down the center. Its new growth is favored by slugs, so grow with protection (constant vigilance) or in pots.

Today's Fern Friday pic is this little (perhaps 3 inches) Harts Tongue Fern which planted itself in the rock wall of the Bainbridge Island Library Fern Garden. What a treat to run across it today! Boy, spores do travel!
