**When Was the Last Time You Looked Under Your Sinks?**

Most of us don't pay much attention to the plumbing under a sink until there's a problem. A quick inspection every so often can help catch a small leak before it causes damage.

Take a look for:

🔹 Water stains or discoloration on the bottom of the cabinet
🔹 Moisture around drain connections
🔹 Corrosion around shutoff valves or supply lines
🔹 Dampness or musty odors
🔹 Items stored underneath that are wet without an obvious reason

Small leaks can sometimes go unnoticed for weeks or months, especially when they're hidden behind cleaning supplies and other items.

Take a minute today to clear out the cabinet and have a look. You might catch a problem before it becomes a much bigger one.

If you find something that doesn't look right, feel free to send me a message.

**Check Your Pipes Before Cold Weather Arrives**

As temperatures start to drop, now is a good time to take a look at the water lines in the colder areas of your home.

Pay particular attention to pipes located in:

🔹 Unheated basements or crawl spaces
🔹 Garages
🔹 Near exterior walls
🔹 Cabinets along outside walls
🔹 Other areas that get noticeably colder during winter

Look for missing or damaged insulation, drafts around nearby openings, and any existing leaks or corrosion.

A pipe that has been fine all summer can become a much bigger problem once freezing temperatures arrive. Taking a few minutes to check these areas now can help prevent frozen or burst pipes later.

Have a plumbing concern you'd like checked before winter? Feel free to send me a message.

**Don't Forget About Your Outdoor Faucets**

Fall is here, which means colder weather isn't too far away. Before temperatures start dropping, take a few minutes to check the outdoor plumbing around your home.

🔹 Disconnect garden hoses when you're finished using them for the season
🔹 Check outdoor faucets for drips or leaks
🔹 Make sure shutoff valves operate properly, if your home has them
🔹 Look for damaged or exposed piping that may be vulnerable to freezing

Leaving a hose connected during freezing weather can trap water and increase the risk of damage to the faucet or piping inside your home.

A little preparation this fall can help prevent an unpleasant surprise this winter.

Have a plumbing question or notice something that doesn't look right? Feel free to send me a message.

**Can Your Water Pressure Be Too High?**

Strong water pressure might seem like a good thing, but excessively high pressure can put unnecessary stress on your home's plumbing system.

Some signs to watch for:

🔹 Banging or noisy pipes
🔹 Faucets that splash excessively
🔹 Frequent leaks or dripping fixtures
🔹 Supply lines or plumbing components failing prematurely
🔹 Toilets or appliances that seem unusually noisy when filling

High water pressure can put added strain on valves, fixtures, supply lines, and appliances throughout your home.

If you're concerned about your home's water pressure, it can be checked quickly with a pressure gauge to determine if there's a problem.

Have a plumbing question or something that doesn't seem right? Feel free to send me a message.

**Don't Ignore a Slow Drain**

A sink, tub, or shower that's draining slower than usual may be giving you an early warning that a clog is starting to form.

Watch for:

🔹 Water taking longer than usual to drain
🔹 Gurgling sounds after the water goes down
🔹 Water backing up into another fixture
🔹 Recurring clogs that keep coming back
🔹 Unusual odors coming from the drain

Taking care of a drainage problem early can often prevent it from turning into a complete blockage at the worst possible time.

And one important tip—avoid relying on harsh chemical drain cleaners. They don't always solve the underlying problem and can create additional issues.

If you have a slow or troublesome drain, feel free to send me a message. I'd be happy to help figure out what's going on.

**Listen to Your Toilet**

Does your toilet randomly start running even though nobody has used it?

A toilet that runs periodically or continues running after a flush may have a worn or failing component inside the tank. It might seem like a minor annoyance, but all that water adds up over time.

A few signs to watch for:

🔹 The toilet runs long after flushing
🔹 You hear it refill randomly throughout the day
🔹 You have to jiggle the handle to make it stop
🔹 You notice an unexplained increase in your water bill

Don't let your toilet quietly send water—and money—down the drain.

If your toilet has a mind of its own, feel free to send me a message. I'd be happy to take a look.

🔥 **Monday Maintenance Minute** 🔥

**Give Your Water Heater a Quick Check**

Your water heater usually sits out of sight and out of mind—until there's no hot water or you find water on the floor.

Take a minute to look around your water heater for:

🔹 Water or moisture around the base
🔹 Rust or corrosion on the tank or piping
🔹 Unusual popping or rumbling noises
🔹 Rust-colored hot water
🔹 Changes in how much hot water you're getting

Catching the warning signs of a problem early can sometimes mean the difference between a planned repair and an unexpected mess.

If you notice something that doesn't look or sound right, feel free to send me a message.

**Take a Look at Your Supply Lines**

The flexible water supply lines under your sinks and behind your toilets are easy to forget about—but they're one of the most common sources of household water leaks.

Take a minute to check for:
🔹 Bulges or cracks
🔹 Rust or corrosion around the fittings
🔹 Drips or moisture
🔹 Kinks or excessive bending

If you notice any of these signs, replacing the supply line before it fails can help prevent expensive water damage.

A quick inspection today could save you from a much bigger headache tomorrow.

If you have questions about your home's plumbing or notice something that doesn't look right, feel free to send me a message. I'm always happy to help.
