Here is a vintage 36 year old unit. It was top of the line in it's day. 14 Seer 2 speed. It is on it's way to a well deserved retirement at Poe Air Meadows Happy HVAC retirement home. Don't make your system wait 36 years for a well deserved retirement. If yours was always a piece of crap we can just scrap it if that feels right to you.

33 year old Lennox is gett8ng removed and going to it's forever home at The Poe Air Retirement Home for Air Conditioners. This old Lennox was built in Fort Worth and they were very solid. The new ones built in Mexico...not so much.

To Texans with heat pumps. The weather coming in is the type that gives the heat pumps the most trouble. The freezing rain can create a sheet of ice around the heat pump and on top of it. This will prevent it from heating and can damage the fan blade. If your heat pump starts getting iced in then you will want to switch your system to emergency heat. You may need to find a video of how to do that with your paticular thermostat. When the outdoor thaws you can switch back to normal heat. Also, it is normal for a heat pump to run constantly but remain a couple degrees below the setpoint when temps drop below freezing. If we drop below 20 it is not unusual for any system here to not keep the temp as high as you would like. Heaters are sized for 20 degree outdoor temp here.
