It’s Official… Our Home is Complete!!

What a journey this has been! From the very first shovel in the ground to the final touches, it’s incredible to see it all come together.

This build has been a huge undertaking, and we won’t lie, it hasn’t always been easy. Some moments were stressful, challenging, and even a little scary. But through all the ups and downs, every step has been worth it.

We couldn’t have done it without the incredible people who brought this home to life. Every subcontractor we worked with showed skill, care, and professionalism that made the process smoother and the results spectacular. From the foundation to the finishing touches, each team played a vital role:

• Can Am Drywall – Perfectly smooth walls and ceilings.
• Hansen Flooring Gallery – Beautiful flooring throughout our home.

• Kevin Ramler Construction – We can’t say enough about how blessed we were to have Kevin Ramler (Chad’s dad), his brother Bryan, and Dona's (Chad's Mom) help along the way, from trimming and hanging interior doors to advice, cleanup, and even watching the kids so we could get things done. ❤️

…and so many more who helped along the way. Every one of these teams went above and beyond, and we’re so grateful for their work, expertise, and care.

This house isn’t just a building; it’s the result of teamwork, perseverance, and faith in the process. We’re so excited to make memories here, share it with family and friends, and enjoy everything that went into creating it.

Project Update!

This week is all about the details that make a house feel like home!

First up, our cabinets! A huge shoutout to JH Cabinets. Josh and Alyssa were absolutely fantastic to work with from start to finish. They ensured we received exactly what we wanted, including the style, finish, and hardware, and checked in at every step to ensure we were 100% satisfied. The finished product turned out absolutely beautiful, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything came together. We ultimately chose White Oak with a grey finish for the cabinets. Choosing JH Cabinets was one of the best decisions we’ve made, and they’ll be our first call and first recommendation for any cabinet work in the future. A truly great local family business! 👏

On top of that, our quartz countertops were installed by Gendeco Granite and they are stunning! We went with MSI Surfaces – Calacatta Adonia Quartz, and the results are even better than we imagined. From Tom, the owner, making sure we were taken care of, to Pat’s precise measurements, to Trey stopping by on install day to check everything, the customer service was top-notch. The install team nailed it as well. Everything turned out great!

We are beyond happy with both the cabinets and the countertops, and seeing them together!

Next update: trim, retaining wall, and carpet. We are getting closer to moving in and the final inspection.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Lange Trenching Inc. was out finishing the final grade on our yard and lot. Everything is smoothed out and ready for grass!

At this point, the only things left outside are the retaining wall and planting the grass, and then the exterior will be all wrapped up.

Thank you to Screen Pro Screen Enclosures. Pete and his team did a fantastic job! We can't wait to use it.

Update: Interior Paint is Complete!

Last week Lee from Gielen Painting finished up the interior paint on the house. Things are looking great!.

Build Update!!

Last week, Creative Concrete & Masonry poured our driveway and sidewalk! Huge thanks to Ryan and his crew for doing such an amazing job. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out, and we’re confident we made the right choice partnering with them. Having already worked with two other concrete subcontractors on this build, we can honestly say Creative Concrete & Masonry were absolutely fantastic to work with.

Additionally, this week, drywall taping, mudding, and texturing wrapped up, and the team at Can Am Drywall did a fantastic job!

Painting also kicked off yesterday, and we’re excited to share more progress soon!

Build Update!! Doors, Doors, Doors!

Today, American Door Works installed our new garage doors and openers. Shane and Eric did an amazing job! Also, a big shout-out to Greg in the office; he was fantastic to work with on the sales side, helping us get everything set up smoothly from start to finish. He made sure we received the best options that fit our budget. Top-notch service from everyone!

We went with white North Central Door Aspen Ridge-II Recessed Carriage House doors with insulated window panels. At 2" thick and polystyrene-filled with an R-Value of 8.5, they not only look great but will keep our garage comfortable year-round.

For openers, we chose the LiftMaster 84505R Secure View® Ultra-Quiet Belt Drive Smart Openers. These come with a built-in camera, two-way audio, dual LED lighting, and smartphone control, combining quiet operation with smart features.

Bethany and I might be a little biased since she works for their sister company, Mid Central Door, but American Door Works, with their longstanding presence in the market, truly sets them apart. Their extensive experience and commitment to quality show in every aspect of their work. We were confident that choosing American Door Works meant we were partnering with the best in the business.

We can’t say enough about how happy we are with the doors and openers. Thank you again to the American Door Works Team!!

This morning, JRD Masonry installed the masonry brick on the front exterior, and it looks fantastic. We’re so happy with how it turned out. Jesse and his crew knocked it out of the park! We highly recommend them to anyone looking for masonry work!

We also want to recognize that the JRD team recently experienced the loss of a team member. We’re grateful they were still able to fit us in and do an incredible job. Our deepest sympathies are with the JRD team during this difficult time.

Update: Drywall is up!

Big progress to kick off the week. Drywall was hung throughout the entire house on Monday, and the crew completed the job in just one day. Super impressive work and fun to see the walls finally take shape!

Weekly Update: I see something BLUE!!

The exterior crew has been working hard all week and making great progress on our EDCO Products, Inc. steel siding! We chose Deep Ocean Blue with white accents, and it's looking great so far!

It’s already changing the whole look of the house. Still a bit to go on the front and trim, but it’s getting closer every day!
