Too common of a practice is to screw the j channel into the top of the trim board. They do this to make it look tight and clean but in reality they are putting holes in channel and flashing that aren't designed to have holes. This causes water to easily go directly into the wood and causes huge problems. The trick is to catch it before the header gets rotted out and costs way more money to replace.

Just waiting on metal and gutters and painting the chimney and this one is complete. The customer was quoted an outrageous number by another company and thought he had no hope but we found the product and quality that met his budget and made his much needed repairs a reality. No more wasps or rodents getting in his rotted soffits. Can't wait to show this one complete with gutters!

Did you know shingles are just 1 part of your roofing system? Inflow, outflow, water barrier (underlayment and ice and water sheild) and the most forgotten, your insulation are all aspects that need considered when replacing a roof. If your inflow is poor then no amount of vents on your roof will help. If you have good inflow but not enough outflow then your shingles life span will be impacted. A roof like all things needs balance. But a great looking Owens Corning Duration designer color also helps!
