Landscape Theory Studio Transforming outdoor spaces into enduring landscapes of beauty and purpose – Austin, TX

With deep plant knowledge, precise craftsmanship, and a collaborative spirit, we create environments that thrive in Austin’s unique climate. That commitment begins below the surface — with organic practices that nourish the soil and support long-term vitality. Each material is chosen for its impact: organic foliar sprays and root drenches to strengthen underground systems, slow-release fertilizers for sustainable nourishment, and compost-rich beds finished with hardwood mulch to feed the soil and support biodiversity. Together, we shape spaces that inspire, connect, and grow stronger over time.

Give a vine a structure and time, and it’ll do the rest. This wisteria has settled into the entry pergola like it’s always been there, softening the architecture and giving the whole facade some movement.

Texture is doing all the work here. Chartreuse sedum, blue-grey euphorbia, rosettes of echeveria, no two plants competing for the same job, just layered contrast that seems effortless.

Behind every finished space is a team that shows up, communicates, and gets it right the first time. From that first consultation through installation and the maintenance that keeps it thriving, we treat every project, homeowner or design partner, like a landscape, tending to it for years to come.

A tight side yard doesn’t have to be an afterthought, with the right layout, plant selection, and materials, it can be just as inviting as the rest of the home. We love taking small lots like this and making them feel intentional and spacious.

A deck is just decking until there’s life growing around it. This patio didn’t feel finished until the plantings filled in and softened the hardscape.

Great design is only as good as the install behind it. Getting into the tightest corners of a job to make sure it’s done right. This is the part of the process most people don’t get to see, but it’s the reason why the finished product holds up so well.

A pool build asks a lot of a yard. Excavation, heavy equipment, staging, months of disruption to grade and drainage before the water ever goes in, it’s one of the harder builds to protect a landscape through. Sequencing matters here: knowing what to protect, what to route equipment around, and when to bring the planting and hardscape crews back in changes everything about how the finished space feels versus how it recovers.

Beautiful landscapes don’t stay beautiful by accident. 🌿

Come along with Michelle, Landscape Theory Studio’s Project Manager, as she walks us through one of our properties receiving bi-monthly landscape maintenance.

While the crew is busy weeding, pruning, deadheading and tending to the property, Michelle is looking even closer.

Is the irrigation reaching where it needs to? Are the drip lines functioning properly? Are the spray heads working in every zone? Is a plant struggling because it needs attention, or is something happening beneath the surface?

These are the details that matter.

At Landscape Theory Studio, maintenance isn’t simply about keeping a property tidy. It’s about understanding the landscape as a living, changing environment and having the plant knowledge to recognize what it needs throughout the seasons.

Michelle provides another important layer: oversight.

She walks the property, checks the crew’s work, identifies issues that need attention and helps ensure that the landscape reflects the level of care our clients expect. Just as importantly, she helps keep the lines of communication open between our clients and the team caring for their property.

Because great landscape maintenance requires more than labor.

It requires knowledge.
It requires consistency.
It requires communication.
And it requires someone paying attention to the details. 🌱

Already have an established landscape that could use a more thoughtful approach to maintenance? Landscape Theory Studio offers maintenance consultations for existing properties.

Planning something new? Installation consultations are also available, with opportunities to pair your landscape installation with an ongoing maintenance package designed to protect and care for your investment long after installation day.

Thoughtful design deserves thoughtful care.

This crystal quartz cluster didn’t come from a supply house catalog, it came from hours of digging through material yards looking for something with true impact.

The same goes for every stone in this build. We’re not filling space, we’re curating a vibe. The difference between a water feature that reads as “nice” and one that stops people in their tracks usually comes down to these one-of-a-kind details.
