Two cabinet tones split cleanly by the range — warm walnut cabinetry wrapping the left tower and island, soft cream slab uppers holding the right side of the cooking zone.

The split isn’t decorative. The walnut carries the working storage and the visual weight; the cream lifts the wall behind the range and lets the backsplash have its moment. Two vocabularies, one function each, no overlap.

Cabinetry that knows what job it’s doing is cabinetry that never has to prove anything.

The eye lands on the stone and refuses to leave.

A dramatic slab wraps counter to full-height backsplash, its veining doing every bit of the visual work the cabinetry deliberately steps back from. Above it, taupe slab uppers with integrated finger pulls stay completely quiet. Below, warm base cabinetry adds just enough grain to keep the room grounded without ever pulling attention from the stone.

Two disciplined cabinet decisions in service of one loud material choice.

How it started ➡️ How it ended!
A custom built-in bench for a great family in Northwest Hills — designed straight from a piece they picked off our website.

Integrated drawer storage in the base, clean construction, and the kind of proportion that makes a built-in read as architecture rather than furniture. Every reveal squared before the cushions ever land on top.

One kitchen, two eras — inset cabinetry with oversized brass pulls flanking a warm island on turned legs.

The island is doing all the work. Built to read as freestanding furniture rather than fitted millwork, it turns the center of the room into a piece of the home rather than a piece of the kitchen. The inset perimeter cabinetry knows exactly what it’s supposed to be — the disciplined architectural frame that lets the island be the story.

Old world at the center. New world around it. The tension is the design.

Hardware you notice on purpose is a design decision, not an accessory.
Long brass pulls run vertical rhythm up an entire wall of taupe cabinetry — doing the work most designs would ask a reveal or a face frame to handle. Beneath it, a stained island grounds the room in horizontal grain and completely hidden pulls. Two cabinet vocabularies built on opposite instincts, working the same room without arguing.

As the new school year approaches and we find ourselves needing calm, we look to one of the kitchens we designed and installed in Barton Creek West.

Clean cream cabinetry running floor to ceiling, glass-front uppers stacked in two tiers, and a full-height pantry framing the composition.

Leave it on your screen for a moment and embrace the calm this kitchen brings.

Soft frameless base cabinetry with paneled fronts and small brass k***s, running quietly beneath a classical marble counter.

The wall paneling above the cabinetry is the architectural moment. Continuing the millwork language of the room itself, it treats the kitchen as part of the aoriginal architecture rather than an installation dropped into it.

Color is loudest when the cabinetry is quiet enough to let it speak.

Soft cream inset base cabinetry with paneled fronts and small brass k***s, tucked beneath a plaster arched alcove that shapes the entire wall.

The arch is the architectural moment. Carved directly into the plaster, it frames the marble backsplash like a piece of art and softens the geometry of an otherwise strict inset run below.

Curves above. Discipline below. That’s the whole balance.

Rich stained slab cabinetry running the perimeter, the curved wall cabinet making the introduction of the uppers seamless.

The marble slab is the architectural moment. Wrapping the counter and running full height as the backsplash, its dramatic veining pulls the eye up and gives the deep wood cabinetry the exact contrast it needs to stay grounded rather than heavy.

Dark wood only works when the stone is willing to do the lifting. This one does.

Loving this kitchen by Dvira Ovadia. Warm oak cabinetry running floor to ceiling, viewed through a plaster archway that frames the entire kitchen as its own architectural room.

The reeded island base is the moment. Vertical grooves catching light and shadow beneath a dramatic marble counter.

Oak for the architecture. Reeding for the rhythm. Marble for the drama.
