If your home was built between 1995 and 2007, it may be worth checking your plumbing system for Kitec piping.

Kitec was once a popular alternative to traditional copper plumbing, but over time, these systems have become known for problems that can lead to leaks, reduced water pressure, pipe failure, and costly water damage.

Not sure what Kitec looks like? Bright blue and orange flexible pipes, certain markings, and deteriorating brass fittings can be clues but some Kitec piping can be hidden behind walls, under slabs, or in ceilings.

Sometimes a routine plumbing service can uncover another problem before it becomes a bigger headache.

This homeowner scheduled their annual hot water heater flush, and while he was there, Rick noticed an issue with their toilet that wasn't flushing properly.

He diagnosed the problem and made the repair and the customer said:

โ€œThe commode works like new now.โ€
