You never know what’s going to happen on the job!

I was doing a yearly roof inspection and some minor maintenance for one of my clients when this little dog suddenly appeared. I had no idea where she came from, so I’m trying to keep her from wandering into the street.

A few minutes later she starts walking back toward the house…

Turns out she was my client’s dog the entire time. 😂🐶

At least I know the roof AND the homeowner’s security team are doing good!

This project gives you a great look at what happens throughout a metal roof installation — removing the existing roof, inspecting and replacing damaged decking, installing new underlayment, and then installing the new standing seam panels.

The finished product completely changed the look of this home.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is assuming the roof leak is directly above the water stain inside the home.

This homeowner was experiencing multiple interior leaks, but from the ground, you couldn't really see what was happening with the roof.

Using my DJI Mini, I inspected the overall roofing system and found multiple missing tabs across the home's older 3-tab shingles.

Water can enter in one area and travel before it finally becomes visible inside your home.

That's why the next step should be having the entire roofing system professionally inspected to identify the actual source.

Most importantly, don't automatically assume a leak means you need a brand-new roof. Depending on the cause and condition of the roofing system, a repair may be the appropriate solution.

The goal is to catch the problem early and prevent additional damage.

One of the most rewarding parts of working for Hargrove Roofing is having the opportunity to mentor these incredible young men through the Just Keep Livin’ Foundation.

They have been absolutely killing it this summer! They’ve been out in the Texas heat knocking doors, learning how to inspect roofs, meeting homeowners, and getting firsthand experience in the roofing and construction industry.

On July 10, they attended their very first insurance adjuster meeting. It was an awesome learning experience, and I can’t wait to share that video with you. Stay tuned—that video is coming next!

I truly believe these young men are the future of the United States and the future of the roofing and construction industries. They’re learning discipline, responsibility, communication, and the value of hard work—lessons that will stay with them for life.

PART 1 -During this roof inspection, I found missing shingles, hail damage, and an active interior leak.

In this clip, I’m showing one section of the roof where water had already begun affecting the decking. This was just one of several issues found during the inspection.

In this video, I explain what the nail line on CertainTeed Landmark shingles is and why proper nail placement matters during roof installation.

Incorrect nail placement can affect how shingles seal, hold during high winds, and perform over time — especially during severe Texas storms.

A lot of homeowners never get to see this side of roofing, so I try to document and explain parts of the process out in the field.
