Project Details

San Patricio is a water supply district in Corpus Christi, Texas. In order to meet water supply demand for a new ethane steam cracker plant for Exxonmobil, Cast was selected to construct a 54” and 48” pipeline to meet the needs. The project included a number of unique complexities, including a 2,500 LF horizontal directional drill under the Nueces River, 500 LF 72” diameter tunnel under I-37 and numerous open cuts across wet land areas. The soil conditions were challenging with over half of the project being installed under mean sea level.

With more than 9,000 people driving on Weiss Lane every day, and the addition of a new High School campus, this expansion was an investment in safety and solved a much needed capacity issue for the community. Cast was selected to complete this three mile reconstruction, which included road widening from two lanes to four lanes with center turn lanes, curb, sidewalks, intersection signalization, water upgrades and drainage facilities. Additionally, this project included the replacement of two bridges.

Project Details

West Travis County Public Utility Agency is a water utility that serves customers in the Austin, Texas area. In order to meet growing demands for water in their rapidly growing service area, the decision was made to install a redundant 30” transmission line to supply adequate raw water from Lake Austin to their existing water treatment plant. Cast was selected to construct this new 30” ductile iron water line. The project was installed in a heavily populated and environmentally sensitive area, calling for caution and careful consideration to be made during the installation of this winding pipeline.
