After a hailstorm or high winds tear up a roof, the rush is to get a tarp up before the next rain. Smart move, but a bad tarp job can let in more water than the hole it is covering.

The common mistake is draping a tarp loosely and weighing it down with a few bricks. Wind gets under it, rain pools in the dips, and water funnels straight into your attic.
