While the Oak Hill Parkway team continues to finish punch list items along the corridor, we took a moment to celebrate the opening of all project travel lanes with a ribbon cutting last week.

With all Oak Hill Parkway mainlanes and frontage roads open to drivers traveling through the project corridor, crews continue to work on safety and aesthetic scopes including barrier installation, painting, landscaping.

An Oak Hill Parkway crew recently installed a section of metal beam guard fence along the US 290 frontage road near William Cannon Drive.

This safety feature provides protection for motorists by acting as a robust roadside barrier designed to absorb and deflect vehicular impacts.

The twin US 290 mainlane bridges constructed as part of the Oak Hill Parkway project allow both eastbound and westbound drivers to bypass the William Cannon Drive intersection, saving time on their commutes.

The frontage roads and mainlanes in this area were equipped with new illumination to improve night-time driving conditions.

An Oak Hill Parkway crew places a PVC liner along the base of a future water quality pond along the westbound SH 71 frontage road.

Once complete, this drainage feature will capture and filter runoff from the new road before it flows into nearby waterways such as Williamson Creek.

Cross-street access at Scenic Brook Drive now runs underneath the new US 290/SH 71 direct connectors.

Through traffic can use the new direct connect bridges to travel between the two major roadways without stopping at a signal, while local traffic stays on the frontage roads.

The mainlanes, frontage roads, and collector distributors along US 290 are complete and open to traffic.

In this area between Scenic Brook Drive and RM 1826, Oak Hill Parkway crews recently placed and graded topsoil in preparation for seeding and landscaping.

Traffic flows in both directions on the twin US 290 mainlane bridges constructed for the Oak Hill Parkway project.

These mainlane bridges were intentionally designed to be stacked on top of the frontage roads in this area to protect iconic oak trees and minimize impacts to nearby Williamson Creek.

07/29/2026

Oak Hill Parkway crews recently widened and reconstructed a portion of the westbound lanes along SH 71 near Fletcher Lane.

This work involved removal of asphalt from the existing lanes, preparation of the new roadway base, and then finished with the placement of new asphalt paving.
