On Friday, I went to the stone yard to observe a boulder being cut. This rock will soon be a base for a table we’re fabricating for the great Christina Cruz | Austin Interior Designer. It’s extremely important that the bottom of the rock and the top of the rock be cut in two parallel planes, exactly 28 inches apart. Fortunately, Jake at Bedrock Stone was able to achieve this with his amazing, enormous horizontal bandsaw. A diamond cable was needed, and the cuts were ssssllloooooowwww (yet perfect!). Precision matters in every build. I’m so glad there’s a machine that can do this.
