We beat the dust down. There, I said it.

Tired of paying for dust control that washes away after the first rainy day?

Many dust control products are constantly being re-branded and marketed under new names, but changing the label doesn't change the reality. If the product relies on moisture attraction or surface treatment alone, there's a good chance its effectiveness will be greatly reduced after a few rain events.

At Blacktop Northwest, we use a dust control treatment designed to bind with the surface fines in your gravel road or driveway, helping it continue performing long after the rain has stopped.

Rain is a fact of life in Oregon. Your dust control program should be able to handle it.

• Helps keep dust down all summer
• Continues working after rain events
• Stabilizes surface fines
• Reduces airborne dust and maintenance

Don't spend money treating the same road over and over again.

Choose a solution built for Oregon weather.

I have a confession to make.

I recently destroyed the hopes and dreams of millions and millions of dust particles that were planning on gallivanting throughout the Oregon countryside.

Unfortunately for them, we showed up with a tank full of Earthbind® by EnviRoad® and completely ruined their plans.

Things got pretty desperate, too. The dust particles even called in their old buddy Rainstorm for backup, hoping a good soaking would wash everything away.

It didn’t work.

Unlike many traditional dust suppression products, Earthbind® doesn’t simply disappear after the first decent rain. While lignin-based products and magnesium chloride often lose effectiveness after repeated wet weather, Earthbind® continues to stabilize the road surface and keep dust where it belongs.

The dust never stood a chance.

Sorry, dust. Better luck next year.

If perhaps you have some dust that needs to be beat down reach out. We can make it happen.

Great day for dust control. We completed a couple of road oil projects in the Cherry Grove area near Gaston, Oregon today.

Depending on the weather, we may be working in Molalla or Colton tomorrow.

One thing that sets our dust control program apart is durability. Unlike products such as lignin or magnesium chloride that can be diluted and washed away by rain, the road oils we use are designed to bind with the road surface and stay put. A passing rain shower doesn't send your investment down the ditch.

If you're tired of fighting dust on your private road, driveway, farm lane, or access road, give us a call.

We have several large county projects coming up and will soon be shifting into a busy chip seal season, so now is a great time to get on the schedule.

I have had several people reach out just inquiring about pricing. At least one call from a competitor who forgot to block their number. Hopefully this helps.

One thing many property owners don’t realize is that the concentration of the product is what matters—not the number of gallons sprayed.

Our dust control products are applied according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. One gallon of concentrate is designed to treat approximately 75 square feet of roadway. We can dilute that concentrate with water at various ratios depending on the product and application method, but we do not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended coverage rate of 75 square feet per gallon of concentrate.

This is one reason we do not sell our applications by the gallon. If someone tells you they are applying “X number of gallons per square foot,” that number alone doesn’t tell the whole story. A contractor could mix the product 4:1, 5:1, 10:1, or even more and spray a much larger volume of liquid while actually applying less concentrate.

As a customer, it’s difficult to know the difference just by watching the application. That’s why we focus on the amount of concentrate being applied to the road surface, not simply the number of gallons coming out of the spray bar.

For those comparing pricing, our average application rate works out to approximately:

• $0.19 per square foot
• $1.71 per square yard
• $1.90 per linear foot on a 10-foot-wide road
• $2.28 per linear foot on a 12-foot-wide road

For wider roads, simply multiply the road width by $0.19 to determine the cost per linear foot.

Please note that large projects typically qualify for volume pricing, so the cost per square foot is often substantially lower on larger applications.

At the end of the day, what controls dust is the amount of active product applied to the road—not how much water was mixed into the tank.

BLACKTOP NORTHWEST LLC

We’re looking for a few solid people to join our crew for asphalt paving, sealcoating, chip seal, grading, and asphalt maintenance work.

⚠️ SOME CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED ⚠️

You do not need to be an expert in asphalt paving, but this is NOT an entry-level retail-type job. We are looking for people that have actually worked in construction, labor, landscaping, excavation, paving, roofing, concrete, logging, farming, or similar hands-on work.

If you’re worried about getting dirty, working hard, or being outside all day, this probably isn’t the job for you.

What we ARE looking for:
• Shows up on time
• Works hard without constant supervision
• Willing to travel / stay out of town occasionally
• Reliable transportation
• Can take direction and hustle

Experience with any of this is a plus:
• Sealcoating

• Asphalt patching
• Raking asphalt
• Plate compactors / rollers
• Skid steers
• Backpack blowers / prep work

We can teach the right person the paving side of things.
We cannot teach work ethic.
