This Geneva home deserved a front porch that honored its historic character — without sacrificing durability.

What started as an aging concrete stoop was transformed into a full front porch designed to look original to the home… but built with modern materials made to last.

We used composite decking for long-term performance against moisture, rot, and seasonal movement — while incorporating real cedar handrails and soffit details to preserve that timeless architectural feel.

Wrapping Up This Modern Composite Deck 👌

We’re putting the finishing touches on this modern composite deck build and it’s coming together beautifully.

Once temperatures warm up in about two weeks, we’ll be completing the final stucco work around the new door opening. And as soon as the snow fully thaws next week, we’ll give the entire deck and surrounding area a full wash so everything is clean and ready to enjoy.

Big projects take planning, timing, and attention to detail — and we make sure every phase is done right. More updates coming soon.

We’re in the home stretch on this custom deck build 👏
The skirting is almost complete, details are dialed in, and we’re finishing up the final touches that really bring everything together.

This stage is where craftsmanship matters most — clean lines, tight joints, and thoughtful details that ensure this deck not only looks great, but lasts for years to come.

Seamless Composite Deck Corners — It’s All in the Details

One of the small details that makes a big difference 👇

Instead of ending deck boards with exposed seams at the corners, we fold the composite boards around the rim board for a clean, continuous look. This technique takes more planning and precision, but the end result is stronger, sharper, and far more refined.

It’s these finishing details that separate a standard deck from a truly custom build.

Steady Progress, Thoughtful Adjustments 👷‍♂️🪵

Big progress made on this deck last week! 🙌
The framing is dialed in, elevations are coming together clean, and the layout is really starting to take shape.

We did slow things down just a bit toward the end of the week—not due to issues, but because our client requested a few last-minute custom additions. These additions included matal railings, metal privacy screens and built in planter boxes! Rather than rushing, we halted just a bit to make sure everything was planned and executed correctly so the final result meets both their vision and our standards.

Quality always comes first, and sometimes that means taking the extra time to get the details right. More updates coming soon as we push toward the finish line 🔨✨

Pouring concrete in the winter isn’t something you rush or take lightly.
This pour was done on December 2nd and was specifically for a deck and hot tub, which means load, strength, and long-term performance are critical.

Cold-weather concrete requires extra planning, the right materials, and proper protection to ensure it cures correctly and can safely support the weight of a deck structure and a fully loaded hot tub.

In this video, I walk through the process and precautions we take — from temperature monitoring to curing methods — so this foundation is built to last, no matter the season.

Because when you’re supporting serious weight, there’s no room for shortcuts.

Laundry Room Transformation Complete!

Another laundry room makeover wrapped up!
We opened up the space by knocking down walls, then brought it back to life with custom cabinets, a full backsplash, new flooring, and fresh granite countertops.

These photos are from when we came back to add the final details after the granite and tile install — everything came together clean, modern, and functional.
