This photo shows Geneva Construction’s Barber-Greene BatchPac at its Aurora, Illinois, plant in 1956. Back then, this seven-acre site along Indian Trail was helping supply the asphalt that built and maintained the roads carrying Aurora’s growing population and economy.
The trucks may look different, the controls were a lot less digital, and nobody was checking tickets on a tablet—but one thing hasn’t changed: everybody in line wanted hot mix, and nobody wanted to be waiting.
