This one today got a little tricky. We had a call today on a leaking water service in the front yard. After digging up where the leak was coming up, to about 4’ away, we finally found the leak. It was a 3/4” service right on top of the sewer about 3’ down. It’s thin wall pipe, which is notorious for springing leaks. The pipe was installed the same time as the sewer and had one of the craziest bends we have ever seen. We repaired this one, as we do many, with Pex pipe. It gives us the flexibility we need to correct these types of scenarios.
The life of a plumber isn’t always easy. Often times, it’s far from that. We ran into a lot of that today, with this just being one example.

We got a call about a shower drain leaking. Another plumbing company had been there before us and said they fixed the problem but, the customer was still getting water on the ceiling and floor at the bottom of the wall stayed wet.
We hate to cut Sheetrock but sometimes you have to do the necessary things to be able to get the job done the correct way.
There was a 90 degree turn coming through the top plate of the wall that has a stress break in it and the water was running down the wall soaking the floor. We cut out the bad section and replaced it while ensuring the stress was taken off of that fitting so it doesn’t happen again.
Sometimes surgery leaves a bad scar but the results are so much better than before the procedure.

Today we had a leak on a 1” water service at the water meter. The male coming out of the single check valve was cracked and leaking. We repaired this with an expandable coupling because there were a lot of buried utilities directly behind where the leak was and we were trying not to interfere with those lines. We replaced the male adaptor and installed the expandable coupling and this customer was completely satisfied with the end result.

Today we had the opportunity to help out a mother of a new born on Paxton Rd out in Evans GA without water. The county came out today and turned off the water today because of a leak right at the meter. The leak was a broken female adapter at the meter spud. We see this type damage often, it really isn’t due to installation, as it is the schedule 40 pvc tends to weaken if overtightened just the slightest amount. We correct these repairs with pex pipe and brass fittings because the brass is stronger and the pex pipe tends to have a lot more flex and is capable of moving some without any damage.

We replaced a 3/4” galvanized water service today with a 1” pvc line, installed a shut off valve at the water meter and at the house and also installed a pressure reducing valve at the meter. We would to thank the Williams family of Martinez for giving us the opportunity to do this work for them. Regrettably, some of grass was damaged during this installation but, we saved all that we could.
