Sometimes the smartest design move is a diagonal one.
In 2016, Augusta University Medical Center asked us to design a new Infectious Disease Clinic to keep up with growing demand in the community. The Moore Ave. Clinic opened in 2020, with exam, education, infusion, and immunization space all under one roof.
Inside, the plan is split into staff, patient, and public zones, so everyone can move through their day with less back-and-forth. Those 45° corridors cut across the grid to shorten the walk between rooms, and they give the building its angular, energetic shape.
On the outside, brick, stucco, and glass storefront connect it to the AU campus a block away, so it feels like part of the neighborhood and not a stranger to it.
