We came across a pretty good example recently of why finding signs of rats or mice inside your house isn’t always as simple as setting a couple traps and calling it good.

This was at a customer’s house in Meadow Vista that we already regularly service. A few weeks earlier, I had noticed some droppings outside near their deck. I took a picture of it, put it in their service notes and let them know what I had found. At that point everything I was seeing was outside, so there wasn’t really a reason to assume they had anything going on inside the house.

A few weeks later, they called us because they had started finding signs inside.

Once I started looking around and following where the activity was showing up, I ended up underneath the kitchen sink. Behind the plumbing, something had chewed its way through an area that looked like it had actually been repaired before.

We opened things up enough to get a good look at what was going on and secured the opening with 1/4-inch metal hardware cloth. I also put two traps underneath the sink just in case something was still inside after we closed that opening up. The last thing I want to do is seal something into somebody’s house and assume the job is finished.

We also put two bait stations outside based on where we had already been seeing activity around the property.

I thought this was a good job to share because it shows how much detective work can go into rat and mouse issues. Finding the droppings is one piece of the puzzle. From there, it’s figuring out where they’re going, where they may be getting in and what actually needs to be done about it.

Okay, I need some opinions on this one.

We’ve been playing around with the idea of making some Gingerly shirts that are a little different from your typical pest control company shirt.

I wanted something that actually feels like us — a little loud, a little retro, and definitely not boring. 😂

So we started messing around with Hamish, some 80s vibes, and our Gingerly colors… and this is where we ended up.

Now the question is:

If we actually made these… would you rock it?

Because I’m starting to think we might need to make a batch. 👀

What a fun day celebrating how far Gingerly has come over the past year! 💜

Today we officially celebrated our Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting, and it was so special having so many people there to celebrate with us. ✂️🎉

A huge thank you to the Auburn Chamber, everyone who came out, and our amazing community for all of the support you’ve shown Gingerly over the past year.

Hearing scratching inside your walls? There’s usually a reason. 🐭

That’s what started this call.

We tracked the activity down, found the entry point, found the evidence inside, and caught the mouse.

Setting traps is the easy part. Figuring out how they’re getting in is what actually solves the problem.

It’s official… meet HAMISH! 🐮💜

You guys made this one WAY harder than we expected. 😂 After almost 200 votes, Hamish came out on top by just ONE vote!

We had so much fun watching everyone make their case for Hank or Hamish — and we loved seeing how invested some of you got in naming our little guy. 😂

Thank you to everyone who voted, commented, shared, and helped us finally give the Gingerly cow a name!
