Your HVAC system couldn't exist without a concrete drilling specialist. 🌬️

Commercial HVAC systems regularly require core drilled openings through concrete floors and walls — for duct pe*******ons, exhaust and makeup-air connections, refrigerant line sets, and condensate drain routing.

Here's what makes it tricky: these pe*******ons are often specified at an angle, they need to hit a precise location on both sides of the wall, and they frequently pass through fire-rated assemblies that have strict code requirements.

Get the hole wrong and it cascades — the ductwork doesn't fit, the fire rating is compromised, or the line set has to be rerouted. A specialist handles all of that before the bit ever touches the surface.

Did you know concrete drilling contractors are the reason your utilities get through the wall? 💡

Every pipe, conduit, and cable that passes through a concrete foundation, floor, or wall had to get there somehow. That's the job of a core drilling specialist.

Utility pe*******ons include:
• Water supply and drain lines
• Natural gas service entries
• Electrical service conduit
• Fiber optic and telecom lines
• Irrigation systems

Precise sizing matters more than most people realize. An oversized pe*******on wastes sleeve material and creates waterproofing headaches. An undersized hole is far more expensive to fix after the fact.

Get it right the first time — that's what a specialist is for.

Have you heard of core drilling? 🔩

Concrete drilling — most commonly called core drilling or concrete coring — is the process of cutting precise cylindrical openings through concrete, block, or masonry structures using specialized rotary equipment.

Unlike breaking or chipping, core drilling produces a clean, smooth-walled hole with accurate dimensions and no structural shock to the surrounding material.

The "core" is the cylinder of concrete removed during the process. It can be extracted intact for structural testing — or simply discarded when the goal is creating an opening for a pipe, conduit, anchor, or pe*******on.

Professional concrete drilling is a distinct trade. It requires specialized machines, diamond-tipped tooling, and a deep understanding of structural systems.

Cascade Concrete Sawing and Drilling has been the Puget Sound region's go-to concrete specialist since 1980 — more than 45 years of drilling through everything from residential garage floors to 22-inch reinforced sewer structures.

Ever noticed small extensions at the corners of a concrete cut? Those are called overcuts - and they're a completely normal part of the process.
Because concrete saws use a large circular blade, the blade has to travel slightly past the corner before the cut is fully complete. It's geometry, not a mistake.
That said, we know overcuts aren't acceptable for every job. On polished floors, exposed architectural surfaces, or high-end renovations, a clean corner matters. That's why we offer a no-overcut option - we stop the saw short and finish the corner by hand for a precise, professional result.
Not sure if your project needs it? Just ask. We'll walk you through it before we ever start the saw.

Understanding why overcuts happen is key to knowing what to ask for on your concrete cutting project.
