D&J is happy to assist the City of Pensacola with the debris collection after the damage from Hurricane Isaias.
Debris Removal Information⚠️
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the City of Pensacola’s storm debris contractor, D&J, began debris collection.
A total of 40 hauling units were deployed, with the first load collected at 9 a.m.
Additional crews and equipment are expected to be added in the coming days to help expedite the cleanup process.
Crews are working from morning until dark to collect as much storm debris as possible. Please know that crews will make multiple passes through neighborhoods, as many properties have significant amounts of debris.
During the first day of collection, crews removed more than 4,700 cubic yards of storm debris.
Additionally, the National Guard was deployed to help our public works team cut and toss on roadways that had remained blocked.
As a reminder, residents are asked to separate vegetative debris (tree limbs and leaves) from construction and demolition debris (building materials, fencing, carpet, furniture, and plumbing materials).
Also, please do not bag storm debris and ensure all debris is accessible to collection crews and placed on the curb — clear of roadways.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 19, contractors plan to deploy bucket trucks to address hazardous leaning trees and hanging branches.
These crews will cut and remove hazards as they progress through roadside debris collection.
Please note that debris removal from the public right-of-way is separate from the removal of trees or debris located entirely on private property.
Collected debris will be temporarily stored at Roger Scott and Goya Drive.
City teams from Public Works, Sanitation and 311, along with the debris-monitoring team, will continue coordinating resident reports, conducting field verifications and monitoring contractor operations throughout the cleanup process.
The Pensacola Fire Department will also be conducting a road-by-road territory sweep of the City to identify any residual roads still blocked by trees.
