Lakeview Drive Kitchen Remodel | Before & After

A big transformation without making major changes to the layout!

We removed the existing soffits to make room for taller cabinetry and additional storage. We also replaced the window above the sink with a larger, counter-height Marvin window to take better advantage of the lake views.

For the cabinetry, we went with RiverRun Cabinetry Stone Ridge door style in Sage, paired with new countertops, brass hardware, and a custom range hood. We also added a larger farmhouse sink, floating wood shelves, and extended the tile backsplash all the way to the ceiling.

The goal was to make the kitchen feel brighter, more open, and a little more interesting while keeping the existing footprint and hardwood floors.

A completely different look without completely reinventing the space!

Had the pleasure of walking through our Old River Road project with the family yesterday!

We walked through the virtual floor plan months ago, but this was their first opportunity to actually stand in the space and see everything coming to life.

One of my favorite parts of these walkthroughs is getting to discuss ideas and make decisions together. Yesterday, we decided to turn one of the bedrooms into an office/music studio, rework the primary bathroom to allow for a larger walk-in shower, and take advantage of the roofline to create a vaulted ceiling.

Earlier in my career, I used to dread changes once construction started. Over the years, I’ve learned that some of the best ideas come from walking through a space together, having open conversations, and exploring options. A few small changes now can make a huge difference in the finished home.

We’ve been working on this project for over a year and a half, from the initial conversations and design process to finally seeing it take shape. I’ve genuinely enjoyed every part of it.

There’s something special about working with clients who trust your judgment, appreciate the process, and aren’t afraid to collaborate. When you have that kind of relationship, it starts to feel a lot less like work.

Excited to see this one continue to come together!

Slacking on social media but this is from our Old River road project before the storm! Framing is wrapping up and we will start to close this one up.

Big transformation on this Linwood addition.

The original screened-in porch was removed to make way for a completely new great room addition. We opened up the back of the home and created a bright, comfortable space with Marvin windows on multiple sides, bringing in plenty of natural light and opening up the views toward the marsh.

The addition also includes a new full bathroom with a custom tile shower, LVP flooring throughout the great room, recessed lighting, updated HVAC, and a large open layout.

Outside, we added a new wood deck overlooking the backyard and marsh. The new roofline, siding, windows, and exterior trim were carefully tied into the existing home so the finished addition feels like it has always been there.

Transformation Tuesday!

We took this space from a dark, dated 80s kitchen to a bright and updated space. We removed the soffits, added taller cabinetry with quartz countertops, added new lighting, and finished it off with new LVP flooring.

A full kitchen remodel that makes the space feel completely different.

What was once a bait and tackle shop at 640 Bay Ave is now the daily operations hub for Ken Shiles Builders — nestled right inside Bay Ave Home Design Studio . We took this raw, gutted space and transformed it into a fully functioning office where we run our projects, meet with clients, and collaborate directly with our design studio, all under one roof.
