Quick reminder: if you come across Crapemyrtle Bark Scale, please report it to EDDMapS at eddmaps.org or through the app.

Keep an eye out for white or gray felt-like patches along bark and branches, small pink to gray crawler stage insects, and black sooty mold that can make trunks look dark and dirty. You may also notice reduced flowering or a general decline in tree health during heavier infestations.

Early reports help track the spread and protect crapemyrtles and American beautyberry before infestations get worse.

Upon inspection there is a large infestation of crapemyrtle bark scale which secrets honeydew that molds and becomes sooty mold. This will all stress the tree.
