Humble Harvest Garden Co.

Humble Harvest Garden Co. Offering you ecologically responsible landscaping services and attentive, up-to-date designs Humble Harvest is the result of decades of hard work and education.

The company's guiding principal is the use of responsible agricultural practices in all aspects of landscaping. As a farmer's grandson, one of my earliest memories is of walking through a cornfield in tow of several generations of family, and eating baby ears of silver queen (white corn) straight off the plant. We always had an abundance of fresh vegetables for family gatherings, and Uncle Chuck w

ould send me home with a jar of hot pickled vegetables almost every Christmas. I began my landscaping career in my hometown, Gainesville GA, working for a woman named Virginia Hall. She was a proper southern woman whose yard included yellow bell, periwinkle, azalea, fern, hydrangea, gardenia, hasta, and wisteria. She grew figs and peaches, and had a small vegetable garden at the end of the driveway. Mrs. Hall stressed pulling w**ds by hand, mulching heavily, and always sharing her small but delicious harvest with me. She never used herbicide in her yard, and pesticides were used very sparingly. I became a landscaper by trade at nineteen, and soon discovered that commercial landscaping involves huge amounts of chemicals, most of which are toxic to humans. I moved to Atlanta at twenty three, and established my first organic garden in my Uncle Smokey's backyard in the Morningside neighborhood. Over the past nine years, I have read volumes on the old methods of pest, w**d, and animal control, and tried a host of nontoxic compounds to achieve these ends. I have learned how to generate nutrient-rich soil without the use of petrol fertilizer (all granulated fertilizers). I have enjoyed many fine meals from my own garden. The aim of the Humble Harvest Garden Company is to bring all of this knowledge and experience to the community around me, and live up to the agricultural standards I was raised on. I specialize in creating beautiful southern gardenscapes and growing outrageously good food.

I just wanna take a minute and thank all of our clients who put in the time, effort, and expense to maintain their installs year after year.
I absolutely love watching our designs fill in. We design with immediate aesthetics in mind, but a lot of planning and care also goes into considering how everything will fill-in. It’s truly magical experience to see your work reach its potential.

Taking a moment to remember my uncles on Moms side of the family. Both pieces of granite came from the quarry just east of the city. The grain in the rock swirls, circles back on itself, bends and folds, and ultimately dances off of the stone. I’d like to one day have a stone like this in the family cemetery. I’ll take ‘darkness falls and seasons change’ on mine.
