Seeking a Live-In Farm Hand / Property Caretaker Position – North Georgia
My name is Claire "Bear" Thomas, and I'm looking for a long-term live-in position as a farm hand, property caretaker, maintenance man, or ranch hand for a farm, horse property, homestead, or large private property between Cleveland, GA, and Covington, GA.
I've owned and operated my handyman business for the past 11 years, and I genuinely enjoy taking care of property. I'm the type of person who notices the little things before they become expensive problems. I take pride in keeping a place running smoothly, looking good, and being well cared for.
I'm experienced with:
- 🔨 Property maintenance and repairs
- 🌱 Landscaping and groundskeeping
- 🏡 Home, barn, and fence maintenance
- 🐴 Horses and equine properties
- 🐄 Livestock and general animal care
- 🐓 Daily farm chores and upkeep
- 🚜 General improvements and odd jobs
What I'm looking for is a true caretaker position. I want to become someone you can depend on to help manage and maintain your property—not just mow grass or fix something once in a while. I want to take pride in your place as if it were my own.
In exchange, my wife, our 2-year-old son, and I are looking for a small home, guest house, basement apartment, barn apartment, or similar living arrangement on or near the property.
The ideal setup would allow me to spend part of each week working directly for the property in exchange for housing, while leaving me time to continue operating my handyman business and taking on outside jobs to provide additional income for my family. That way, I can commit to the property long-term while still supporting my family financially.
My wife works as a Med Tech/Caregiver at The Magnolias Assisted Living in Dawsonville, so we'd like to stay within a reasonable driving distance. On some of her days off, she's also happy to help with house cleaning, laundry, errands, or other tasks around the property.
I do want to be upfront that there will be occasional weekends throughout the year when I'll be volunteering at events with the 501(c)(3) nonprofit I'm involved with. Outside of those commitments, I'm dependable, hardworking, and flexible.
If a live-in caretaker opportunity isn't available, we're also looking for a rental around $1,600/month. Being self-employed has made renting difficult, even though I've always worked hard and supported my family. We'd appreciate a landlord willing to work with us on move-in costs while we get established.
