Here is one way to rescue a raccoon from a chimney top! This adult raccoon found its way inside this Atlanta chimney top and couldnt find its way out.

We lowered him a rope and way to climb back out. Within 24 hours he was able to climb his way back out, notice the black on the outside of the fireplace!

Another reason it is important to cap the top of your chimney off!!

Responsible for over 3,000 snake bites a year. Fortunately only 5 deaths have occurred in two decades due to a copperhead bite.

We relocated this guy from off our callers doorstep! With some of the best camo in the game, it is easy to step on one!

We have been slammed lately with wildlife calls, and staying busy on the run! This call came in last week of a Spiny Softshell turtle in a swimming pool!

I love how cool these guys are, and some of the fastest swimmers due to their softshell. This call went smoothly, and ended in freedom!

Another Renest!! 🤞🤞

Cases 26-0177 & 26-0178, arrived April 23:

These ~1 week-old nestling Red-shouldered Hawks were found when their nest tree was cut down in Mableton. One of our colleagues met the homeowners at midnight to collect the young birds and brought them to CNC the following morning. Thankfully, because the tree workers lowered them with a crane when they were found, the babies are uninjured. After a large meal, they were returned to the area and placed in a surrogate nest in a nearby tree with the assistance of Sanders Wildlife, Inc. for the parents to continue raising.

As we go into fledgling season, finding a baby bird or owl on the ground can be a normal occurence. Knowing when to help is the most important as not all grounded babies need assistance.

For this young Barred Owlet, he jumped the nest a little too early. We were able to build a new nest below the original nest, to make sure he is safe off the ground. The mother has already been taking care of him from the new nest!! In a few more weeks this little one will begin learning to fly and will fledge the nest again!

Sunday, we received a call from Franklin, GA about an owlet that had fallen from its nest. We immediately put out a request for nearby volunteers, hoping someone could reach the site quickly.

Thankfully, mama owl was still in the area and continuing to care for her baby which was an encouraging sign in a stressful situation.

Monday, Brandon from Sanders Wildlife, Inc. responded, building a makeshift nest and securely attaching it to the tree. This gives the owlet a safe place to stay while mama continues to care for it until it’s ready to fledge.

A huge thank you to the homeowner for recognizing something wasn’t right and making the call that started this rescue effort. And an even bigger thank you to Brandon, who continues to show up time and time again for wildlife and for us when it matters most. 💚

Moments like this are only possible because of community awareness, quick action, and incredible partners in the field. 🦉
