True divided lite versus simulated divided lite confuses a lot of buyers.
Here is the simple difference that helps you choose smart.
True divided lite, or TDL, means the glass is actually split into small, separate panels.
Each pane is its own piece of insulated glass, so you still get energy efficiency.
Simulated divided lite, or SDL, is a grid with a sticky back applied over a single pane of glass.
At Magbee Contractors Supply , I watched the team install SDL on custom doors and windows, but they offer both.
Most of the market now runs SDL on grids because it is quicker and cheaper to make.
Both are great.
The right one comes down to look and budget.
