As part of Employee Ownership Month, we're proud to spotlight Derrick Jenkins, our Warranty Manager and a 60% vested employee-owner who joined Benning Construction in 2021.

In his role, Derrick coordinates with subcontractors to schedule and complete warranty work, ensures projects are closed out at the end of their one-year warranty period, and visits job sites to help keep everything running smoothly. His attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction help maintain the quality and relationships that define Benning.

When asked about his experience at Benning, Derrick shared: "Benning has been a great opportunity. I have met some wonderful people working here."

We're grateful for Derrick's dedication and proud to have him as part of our employee-owner team.

As part of Benning Construction's Volunteer Month in September, team members volunteered on two separate mornings at Ronald McDonald House Charities, preparing and serving breakfast for families staying at the house. Thank you to Jill Ragsdale, Drew Nichols, Steven Cowart, Brittney Humes, Lisa Williams, and Jessica Coleman for giving their time to support families during challenging times. We're proud to make a difference in the communities we serve.

Benning was proud to sponsor Camp Kudzu's Shoot Down Type 1 Diabetes event, their 4th Annual Sporting Clays Tournament, which raises funds to provide resources, support, and life-changing experiences for children and families impacted by Type 1 diabetes. Representing Benning at the event were Brittney Humes, Ashley Young, Jessica Coleman, and Clinton Wolff.

For Ashley, Camp Kudzu's mission is especially meaningful, as her family has experienced firsthand the incredible support the organization provides throughout her daughter's Type 1 diabetes journey. She said, "when my daughter was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, my heart was full of fear, uncertainty, and so many questions. As her mom, I wanted to take it all away and make everything okay. Camp Kudzu gave us something we desperately needed in those early days, a sense of hope, understanding, and the comfort of knowing we weren't alone. I'll forever be grateful for the way it helped us find our strength and reminded me that my girl can do anything, even with T1D."

Employee Spotlight for Employee-Ownership Month: Owen Gallagher, Superintendent

Since joining Benning Construction in 2020 after serving in the Army, Owen has built an impressive career through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to learning. Starting as a Laborer/Carpenter with limited construction experience, and through his hard work and diligence, he was promoted to Superintendent. Today, Owen serves as a Night-Time Remodel Superintendent, helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. As an 80% vested employee-owner, Owen embodies the ownership mindset that drives Benning's success.

He stated "Benning they gave me an amazing opportunity to learn and become a superintendent at a young age. They saw what I was capable of doing, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity I was given.”

We're proud to recognize Owen during Employee Ownership Month and are grateful to have him as part of the Benning team.

Project Update!

DuBois Integrity Academy continues to take shape as site development progresses and key infrastructure work advances. Recent milestones have laid the groundwork for the next phase of construction, with crews focused on preparing the site for future building activities. The project remains on track, and we're excited to see continued progress in the months ahead as this new educational facility comes to life. Estimated completion is slated for Summer 2027.
