Today we are excited to announce our new brand identity! When we started Terminus, we thought we knew what our brand should be, but as we enter our third year of operation, we realized we needed to take a step back and redefine who we are as a firm. Our initial identity was a result of our need to brand quickly and hit the ground running. As we grew into ourselves, it became apparent that we needed to reconsider how we are seen by the world.
Our brand refresh was a process that took over six months to complete and included conversations with clients, family, friends, coworkers, and multiple design iterations to arrive at our new look. This look did not happen overnight, rather it was the product of a methodical and organic process that led us to a complete brand overhaul. Our new look is personal to us in so many ways. Each step of the way we refined the colors, typography, icons, and logos to create a brand composition that showcases who we are, where we’ve come from, and where we’re going. We feel this new identity better represents our personality, our process, and our values.
We are disruptive. We are different. We are changing the game. All these ideologies helped curate our vision into what you see here today. The fonts are a juxtaposition of a traditional serif against a modern sans-serif but still work together in harmony. The yellow is bold but not overpowering; it’s the color of curiosity, creativity, optimism, and disruption, yet also caution against the norm. Our pixelated icon logo can be interpreted in many ways like an actual “T”, an 8-bit video game graphic, the front of a train, or even a floor plan. It’s pronounced and bold and sparks curiosity. Overall, the brand, our brand, is now something people can associate with us and more accurately reflects the ways in which we’re different: our processes, our relationships, and our work.
We are designing a new kind of Architecture firm. We are Terminus.
We wanted to also give a huge shoutout to our friends over at for their help in designing our new image. They are über talented graphic designers, brand strategists and creatives who understand the design process in ways we did not. Through their process, they helped us understand who we are and how people see us. It isn’t easy working for other designers and they really knocked it out of the park – thanks for being patient with us!
