Early mornings on the jobsite ☕️

We met first thing this morning to get some clarity on a special detail for our client. Sometimes the best way to make sure everyone is on the same page is to just meet at the house and work it out together.

I left home before coffee, and I’m quite certain even my socks don’t match. 😂

But some days, you just roll with it.

Coffee in hand. Details getting worked out. Another day of building custom homes. ❤️

EXPEDITION OUTPOST 🤎 BUILT FOR THE ADVENTURES BEHIND THE TROPHIES

From the beginning, Expedition Outpost was designed to be much more than a two-story garage. It was created as a place to showcase a lifetime of adventures and the unique and treasured mounts collected by our clients through their wild game hunts.

Because several of these animals are substantial in size, this build started with a completely custom design. We considered what would ultimately be displayed inside and designed the wall heights and dramatic vault to make sure there was a place for each and every mount. The result is an impressive space that gives the collection the room it deserves.

Long before the walls went up, Hampton Land Management provided the sitework and engineered building pad, giving us the proper foundation for the structure and setting the stage for the construction to follow.

Architecturally, it was important that the new structure looked like it had always belonged with the existing residence. One of our biggest challenges was matching a brick that is no longer in production. A big thank you to John Lovelace with Acme Brick, who helped us find an incredibly close substitute. The match is nearly identical, and we were thrilled to pull off the look to our clients’ satisfaction.

Inside, we kept the finishes warm and neutral so they wouldn’t compete with the colors and textures of the mounts. Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige pairs beautifully with COREtec Cairo Oak flooring. We also incorporated plenty of recessed lighting throughout the upper level to help showcase the collection.

To keep the upstairs comfortable year-round, we used foam insulation along with a ducted mini-split system. It gives the space efficient heating and cooling while keeping the mechanical elements discreet.

The lower garage level features an amazing epoxy floor sourced by the client, and it turned out beautifully.

One of our favorite finishing touches is the pool table light featuring a wilderness scene. It is definitely a showstopper and couldn’t be more fitting for Expedition Outpost.

We are so pleased with how this project turned out and even more pleased that we were able to bring our clients’ vision for this unique space to life.

For now, we’re sharing photos from the beginning of construction through completion. In just a couple of weeks, once all of the mounts are in place and everything is finished, we’ll share the final video of Expedition Outpost.

❤️ Hometown Love ❤️

In Limestone County in north Alabama sits Athens, a gracious old town with deep roots and a proud claim to educational history. Founded in eighteen eighteen, Athens is one of the oldest incorporated towns in the state, and it is home to Athens State University, the oldest institution of higher learning in Alabama.

The heart of Athens is its lovely courthouse square, ringed by historic brick storefronts and anchored by the county courthouse, a classic slice of small town Alabama. The town takes pride in Founders Hall at Athens State, a stately antebellum building dating to the eighteen forties that has educated generations of Alabamians. Athens also has a musical soul, famous for its annual Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention, one of the oldest and largest fiddle competitions in the country, which fills the town with the sound of string music each fall. History, education, and music all come together here in a warm and welcoming community.

Athens is one of Alabama's oldest and most charming towns, a north Alabama gem of a historic square, the state's oldest college, and a beloved old time fiddlers convention.

Some of the most important days in custom homebuilding happen long before the first brick is laid.

Last week, we had the pleasure of spending the day with our wonderful Wildwood Acres client and her sweet mom, making selections for what is going to be an absolutely spectacular home. One of our biggest tasks was narrowing down the perfect brick selection—always a big decision because it sets the tone for the entire exterior.

A special thank you to John at Acme Brick for sharing his time and expertise as we worked through the many beautiful options.

We also made an important stop at AllSouth Appliance, where Marquez graciously guided us through the world of built-in and panel-ready refrigerators, cooktops, and the rest of the appliance suite. These selections are so important as we move into cabinet design and begin bringing all the details together.

Days like these are a reminder that building a custom home is truly a collaborative journey, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent with our client and her mom. We can’t wait to watch this beautiful vision come to life! 🤍🏡✨

Some site meetings call for a conference room. Others call for coffee. ☕🏡

This morning’s meeting for Ridgecreek Retreat started at one of our favorite spots, My Brother’s Coffee, and, as usual, there was a friendly argument over who was buying. 😂
Our Mr. of Ridgecreek Retreat decided the only fair solution was a highly competitive game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. ✊✋✌️

I lost… which apparently means I still get a latte. I may need to work on my Rock, Paper, Scissors strategy, but I can’t complain about the outcome. 🤷🏼‍♀️☕🏆

Thank you again for the coffee, the laughs, and a great start to our site walk. We hated missing the Mrs. this morning and look forward to catching up with her next time! ❤️
