Public Notice:

The Kansas Housing Resources Consortium has published revised 5-Year and Annual Plans for its members for Fiscal Year Beginning April 1, 2027 for Public Comments.

The Plans will be available for review located at:

Atchison Housing Authority Office at 103 South 7th Street, Atchison, Kansas,
Holton Housing Authority Office at 100 Southern Heights, Holton, Kansas,
Linn Housing Authority at 305 Cedar Street, Linn, Kansas,
Valley Falls Housing Authority at 940 Frazier Street, Valley Falls, Kansas, and
Wamego Housing Authority at 1201 Chrysler Drive, Wamego, Kansas.

Five Public Meetings will be held as follows:

• December 8, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. at Valley Falls Housing Authority Office.
• December 15, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Atchison Housing Authority Office.
• December 2, 2026 at 4:30 P.M. at Holton Housing Authority Office.
• December 28, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at Wamego Housing Authority Office.
• December 17, 2026 at 5:15 P.M. at Linn Housing Authority Office.

Hazmat Exercise in Atchison at Gasoline Alley (across from Taco John’s) on Wednesday, October 14.

PUBLIC NOTICE – FULL-SCALE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EXERCISE

Atchison County will be conducting a Full-Scale Hazardous Materials Exercise on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The exercise will involve multiple local emergency response agencies and healthcare partners. Its purpose is to evaluate emergency response capabilities, including interagency coordination, communications, hazardous materials response, patient care, public information, and incident command.

Exercise activities will take place in the areas of Gasoline Alley, Atchison County Health Department, and Amberwell Hospital.

Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, first responders, and other exercise-related activity during this time.

This is only an exercise. There is no actual emergency.

We appreciate the public's patience and understanding as our local agencies work together to strengthen our preparedness for real-world emergencies.

Free large recliner couch! Very heavy! Stop by the office at 103 S 7th to pick up. Will need a truck and extra help to haul. Office closes from 12:30-1:00pm for lunch and at 4:00pm. Will remove post when picked up.
