Batten down the hatches, Central Coast!

Prepare for possible road closures and power outages from Monday night into Tuesday morning as a vigorous cold front, strengthened by powerful upper-level winds, sweeps across our region from north to south. 🧭

This potent system will bring gale-force southerly winds, moderate to heavy rainfall, and even isolated thunderstorms during the frontal passage. An upper-level trough will trail behind later Tuesday, maintaining scattered showers throughout the day. 🌬️🌧️⛈️

Most areas across the Central Coast can expect 1 to 2 inches of rainfall, with much higher totals in the Santa Lucia and coastal mountains. 📏

October storms like this aren’t that rare, and after decades of watching them roll through, I’ve learned one thing: because many trees still hold their leaves—and act like sails in the wind—fallen trees and large limbs often accompany these early-season gales. 🍃🌳

Expect hazardous driving conditions and the potential for power outages. 🛣️🔌
