DON’T MAKE THIS MISTAKE.

Mistake 1: Focusing only on the finishes and ignoring what’s underneath.

A beautiful home isn’t defined by Italian tile, custom millwork, or high-end fixtures alone. What you can’t see matters just as much as what you can.

When reviewing your builder’s project update photos, look beyond the finished surfaces:

• Do the corners and transitions line up?
• Is the jobsite clean and organized?
• Are newly installed windows properly protected?
• Is the waterproofing being done correctly?
• Are the details being executed with the same care as the finishes?

That imported Italian tile may be beautiful, but without proper waterproofing behind it, you could be paying for a beautiful problem.

At the luxury level, craftsmanship isn’t just about what you see. It’s about getting every detail right—especially the ones you’ll never see.

On Saturday, we celebrated JAS In-Schools faculty member Mark Johnson, who tragically passed away in 2025. That year, JAS and the AMFS launched a fundraising campaign in Mark’s memory to support the music programs at Carbondale Middle School and Roaring Fork High School.
