Architectural Salvage & Deconstruction

At Asheville Property Services, we have been pulling up pine flooring, removing vintage fixtures, and salvaging old doors & hardware from residential and commercial properties, in central and western North Carolina, for close to a decade. We are licensed and insured, and bring years of thoughtful consideration and experience to all of the projects

we are fortunate enough to work on. We often purchase the salvage rights to houses, barns and other buildings, from property owners and contractors, so if you have a project slated for demolition or renovation, give us a call. We are always seeking new salvage and deconstruction opportunities. Barn Reclamation & Removal

The reclamation and removal of old barns, cabins, and other agricultural buildings is another favorite pasttime at Asheville Property Services. Born of an old world esthetic, it is as much the process, as it is the product, that motivates us to carefully disassemble these vestiges of a time gone by, with all the respect and dignity their collective histories deserve. Because no structure can last forever, we make ourselves available to assist with the removal of buildings that have become hazards, eyesores, or have otherwise outlived their intended uses. Whether a to***co barn, an animal stall, corn crib, or lowly outhouse, all structures have something to offer, and no building is too large or small for us to consider dismantling. Carpentry, Contracting, Furniture

From time to time, we also enjoy helping contractors, designers, and property owners with renovations and retrofits to homes, restaurants, and other commercial properties. Sometimes that means we are designing and consulting, finding unique ways to repurpose salvaged materials that bring new life to old things, and add dynamic quality to existing spaces. When we have time, we might get involved with a simple remodel. Other times we find ourselves installing reclaimed lumber, milled into paneling or flooring, that still reveals a bit of its weathered history. Sometimes we are just constructing a smart, sturdy deck, or building a playfully creative custom fence. If we can assist you with a project like this, or if you have an idea of your own that we can help you with, please let us know.

Lighting isn't ideal but here are some before and after pics of a fence I built with 4x4 posts and cattle panels (similar to hogwire). Today I clad the posts in reclaimed, mostly gray, oak barn wood. The bright yellow/green, pressure-treated posts have been absorbed by the earth tones of the barn wood, and really ties it in to the weathered decking material. Happy craftsman, happy client.

Before and after pics of a recently completed project paneling over a bumpout closet with reclaimed, kiln-dried, circle-sawn oak and poplar boards from a barn in Buncombe County. It really draws the eye and brings the room together. I believe barn wood to be the greatest invention since trees.

Howdy do, kinfolk. It's that time of the year again. If you're looking for someone to mow your yard, maintain your landscaping, build a deck or a fence, clean gutters, repair a roof, or anything else then I'm your man. I enjoy using reclaimed wood to create rustic accents like built-ins, shelving, and barn wood feature walls. I just completed a punch list for clients with a house under contract. I'm getting ready to resurface and stain a concrete floor next week, and then I will be tearing down and removing an old shelter structure on a church property here in Asheville. I also partner with a local carpenter/craftsman to tackle larger projects like remodels, additions, and new construction. Give me a call if I can help you with anything. Keep checking here for pics and documentation of my work. Thanks and have a great day. John 828-380-1232
