Proud of our work hand pulling invasive plants around a bog that’s home to a sweet little
federally endangered bog plant, Bunched Arrowhead. As a result of that work, this little plant dramatically increased its population and spread to a second bog in the area. Most amazing of all, perhaps, is the fact it expanded to the second bog during a drought! This little plant is endemic to only 2 places in the world, and there are many more of them today because Naturaland Trust fights for nature and native plants and entrusted us to do this work. 🙏❤️🌏

The Nature Conservation is another fantastic organization doing their part to preserve our special places, and we’re proud to call them
friends and clients, too. As they say, “birds of a feather…”

Kym representing Raven Invasive Plant Management at Asheville City Council meeting, accepting the Mayor's Proclamation of Invasive Species Awareness Week, coinciding with National Invasive Species Awareness Week.

I'm in Annapolis, attending the 34th USDA Cooperative Research Forum on Invasive Species.

I've learned some things that further fuel and ignite my passion to raise awareness of the importance of soil health ( #1) and what we can do to mitigate the threats posed by invasive species.

They're not just plants... pathogens, insects, mammals and MORE threaten native species and human health. We're in crisis. You can help...

Raven Invasive Plant Management was chosen to receive the Business Conservationist of the Year award in the 2026 Governor's Conservation Achievement Awards program.

"Sponsored by the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, this program highlights those individuals and organizations that have exemplified conservation activism across the state."

“Each year we are amazed at the commitment and creativity of North Carolina citizens in protecting wildlife and wild places,” stated T. Edward Nickens, NCWF Awards Committee Chair. “Many of our award winners tell us their Governor Conservation Achievement Award represents the high point of their career, whether they are full-time scientists or full-time volunteer conservationists.”

We're eternally grateful for all of our families, friends, clients and supporters who see how much we care and encourage us to do work that matters.

It's NEVER easy....the work itself, the weight of its importance, the grit and downright determination it takes to show up. And yet, we persist.

Recognition helps! Thank you, North Carolina Wildlife Federation and all involved in the Governor's Conservation Achievement Awards program. We'll see you May 2. 🙏🏼

We ❤️ hawks!

High above the forest floor, dinner is served.

Red-shouldered hawks form long-term pair bonds and begin nesting in late winter. Both parents help raise their young, working together from the very start.

We need more native River Cane and less invasive Knotweed... So grateful for the work being done by Conserving Carolina

I have personally experienced a similarly disgusting creature! Our sweet kitty cat had on his head what appeared to be a puncture wound. But, NOOOOOOOO, it was a wound created to hatch a Botfly larvae. I can’t recall being more disgusted and simultaneously horrified. Fortunately, we took him to the vet right away, and the vet knew immediately what it was. 😳🤮

That’s what we call EDRR in invasive species management, Early Detection Rapid Response.

https://www.everythinglubbock.com/news/agjournal/border-closure-over-new-world-screwworm-threat-ripples-across-u-s-beef-industry/

Let’s focus on increasing knowledge and awareness of the threats of invasive species.

Some invasive threats do not just damage ecosystems. They cause direct harm to animals and people.

The New World screwworm can infest livestock, wildlife, pets, and even humans, leading to severe tissue damage and life threatening complications if untreated.

On Day 3 of National Invasive Species Awareness Week, explore how Mexico is responding to this serious animal health and public health threat through surveillance, rapid intervention, and national coordination.

Early detection. Rapid response. Sustained control.

Defending our health means stopping the spread before it crosses borders.
