Family, hard work, faith, and tradition. Around here, those things still matter. 🇺🇸🔧
To most people, this is just a father-son selfie. And they’re right. But to me, there’s a whole lot more behind this picture.
I’m wearing my Snap-on Tools hat, and my son is rocking his Snap-on shirt.
Now, anyone who’s spent time in the mechanic world knows the running joke about Snap-on. Expensive tools, $20 a week for the rest of your life, and a tool truck that might as well come with a mortgage. 😂
But let’s face it, they make some quality tools.
After all these years of turning wrenches, I’ve collected my fair share. Some were handed down through generations, some I bought myself, some my daughter bought when she worked alongside me in the shop, and now that kid number two is working alongside me, he’s bought a few of his own.
I’ve always encouraged my kids to buy quality when they can. Take care of what you own, work hard for what you want, and maybe someday you’ll have something worth passing down.
Of course, I think it’s the Snap-on swag that really gets the whole family. 😂 Mom has claimed her own screwdrivers over the years, along with some Snap-on socks. The kids have their shirts, hats, and whatever else they’ve managed to collect.
I’ve also got an old picture somewhere of all three of my kids when they were little, standing in front of my Snap-on toolbox. I’ll have to dig that one out because it really puts the years into perspective.
It’s funny how something as simple as a tool brand can become part of a family’s story.
Here at Stonington Power, this business has always been about more than fixing equipment. It’s about raising kids who understand the value of a dollar, aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, take pride in their work, and appreciate the generations who came before them.
So yeah, it’s just a selfie. But to me, it’s years of memories, lessons learned, and watching the next generation find their way.
Because at the end of the day, the tools will eventually wear out, the toolbox might change hands, and the years will keep flying by. But the family we raise, the faith we carry, the work ethic we teach, and the traditions we pass down are what really last.
And that’s something you can’t put a price tag on. ❤️🔧🇺🇸
