⚡ 95 VOLTS ON A REFRIGERATOR — A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL HAZARD! ⚡

🚨 Just because it works doesn’t mean it’s safe!

We recently responded to a service call where a homeowner reported getting shocked by their refrigerator and experiencing electrical arcing to the metal waterline.

After testing, we discovered 95 VOLTS on the metal frame of the refrigerator!

Further troubleshooting led us to the main electrical panel, where we discovered the two neutral bars were NOT bonded together! Once we installed the proper bonding jumper, the refrigerator was no longer energized.

⚠️ But here’s the scary part…

The more we inspected the panel, the more unsafe conditions and electrical code violations we discovered!

THIS IS WHY WHO YOU HIRE MATTERS!

When replacing or upgrading your electrical panel, make sure you’re hiring a licensed, trained, and insured electrical contractor.

We understand wanting to save money, but hiring the cheapest person who says, “Yeah, I can change out your panel,” can come at a much higher price.

Improper electrical work can lead to electrical shocks, fires, serious injuries, or even death.

⚡ Not all electrical contractors are created equal.

Just because something “works” doesn’t mean it was installed correctly, safely, or to code.

We were recently called out to repair power feeding a subpanel and an A/C unit that had previously been installed by another electrical contractor. Once we started looking into the problem, we found numerous code violations and workmanship issues that needed to be corrected.

What a transformation! ⚡🏠

We’re proud to be wrapping up the electrical work on this 120-year-old home, bringing it into the modern age while preserving its incredible character.
