Seeing this 1950’s Usonian home coming together brings me back to the study of architecture. My final studio studied Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian architecture and his work on the Usonia community Westchester, NY. I never imagined that 25 years later I would have the honor to renovate one of these homes. Designed by David Henken, the principal architect for Usonia, this home remained with the original owner from 1953 to 2019. The current owner fell in love with the property, an introduction was made to Hirshson Architecture + Design , and two years later we’re nearly done. Seeing the new stair against the original paneling come together brings me a satisfaction beyond words.
