G. W. Peoples Contracting Co., Inc. (GWP) is proud to announce the appointment of Jonathan Barnhart to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Jonathan has been with GWP since 2018, working as Sr. Project Manager on the rail infrastructure construction at the Port of Savannah International Multi-Modal Connector (GA), as well as the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Potomac Yards Station Project (VA).

Jonathan graduated college with a B.S. in Physics and has more than 36 years total experience in the industry with a concentration in rail transit systems construction. He has been responsible for the successful completion of projects for some of the largest transit agencies on the east coast and has extensive experience in civil engineering.

Jonathan has expertise in construction management and has overseen multiple transit projects worth multi-millions. He has worked previously with the Michael Baker Company, Tutor-Perini, and Atlas Railroad, and actually began his career in transportation construction with Verna Engineering/G.W. Peoples in the early 1980s.

Jonathan has also been selected as the newly launched Peoples’ News corporate newsletter as Employee of Month!
