Same corner, new routine: the tub came out and a walk-in shower went in.

Before: a drop-in tub on a tiled deck. After: marble-look tile wall to wall, frameless glass, a built-in bench, a recessed niche and corner shelf, a hand shower on a slide bar and grab bars right where your hands go, all over a mosaic floor. Swipe to see both sides.

Thinking about a tub-to-shower conversion? Call (703) 300-4703.

The remodel that gets used the most is often the one outside.

A covered section for shade and rain, an open deck for the sun, wide stairs down to the yard, and composite boards that will not need sanding every spring. Built to the same standard as the kitchens and baths we do inside, because the framing under a deck is the part you never see and the part that matters most.

Fall is the best build season we get. Call (703) 300-4703 or visit www.kbmasters.com to get on the schedule before the weather turns.

Look up. That ceiling is why this bathroom works.

It slopes, so the vanity and its storage sit under the low side where the height was never going to be useful. The tub takes the full height wall under the window, with the same porcelain running all the way up. Nothing was fought. The room was planned around what the roof was already doing.

The tub is not the centerpiece here. The daylight is.

Marble-look porcelain runs up the walls instead of stopping at a tile band, so the room reads taller. The maple vanity carries a linen tower at the end for towels and everything else that usually ends up on the counter. Matte black fixtures keep the wood warm without going rustic. And the freestanding soak sits under the window, which is the one spot in the room worth sitting still in.

Freestanding tub or a bigger shower? We ask every client this and the answers split almost evenly.

The room nobody plans, and then uses ten times a day.

Before: orange walls, glass-front uppers holding nothing in particular, and pendants fighting the daylight. Now the wall carries a clean run of greige base cabinets with a quartz top, two maple floating shelves for the things you want in reach, and a counter-depth fridge that sits flush instead of jutting into the walkway.

Two sinks only work if the space between them does.

Drawers stacked in the center, doors at the ends, so the things you reach for at 6 a.m. sit at hand height and the bulky stuff lives low. Lighted mirrors put even light on your face instead of on the top of your head, which is what a ceiling fixture does. And large format floor tile means fewer grout lines to scrub in a room that gets wet twice a day.

Where does your morning routine break down first, counter space or lighting?

A galley kitchen is not short on space. It is short on wall.

One window, one run to work with. So the cabinets go to the ceiling instead of stopping short, the counter stays clear where the cooking actually happens, and open shelves take the place of a third bank of uppers so the room still breathes.

Save this if your kitchen is one wall wide.

Terracotta walls, blue base cabinets, and a foot of empty air above every upper.

Swipe to see where it landed. Greige shaker cabinets now run to the ceiling, so the storage that used to be wasted is doing work. A glass tile backsplash keeps the wall light, the quartz counter runs uninterrupted past the range, and wood-look flooring replaced the old vinyl. Same footprint. Same window. A room that finally reads as one piece.

If your kitchen is on the list this year, call (703) 300-4703 or visit www.kbmasters.com to book a free design consultation.

This kitchen was planned around a Tuesday morning, not a dinner party.

Soft white shaker fronts, uppers stacked to the ceiling so nothing sits in a dust gap, and a marble-look quartz counter that takes hot pans and wet hands without a second thought. The brushed gold faucet is the one piece of jewelry in the room. Everything else is quiet on purpose, because the things you use every day should not compete for attention.

Save this one for your planning file. Gold hardware, or would you keep it all brushed nickel?
