🇺🇸 ENGLISH — OUR STORY
Our story didn’t begin with a business.
It began with sacrifice.
My name is Chano Aniceto, founder of A Plus Decorating Inc., A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc., and Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.
Growing up in Arlington Heights, I used to wake up around 1:30 in the morning to deliver newspapers with my father.
I didn’t do it for the money.
I did it because I wanted to be close to my dad and help him.
My father worked two jobs to provide for our family of nine, all of us living in a small two-bedroom apartment. He wasn’t the kind of man who always expressed love with words.
He showed it through sacrifice, responsibility, and hard work.
Those early mornings taught me lessons I didn’t fully understand until I became a husband, father, and business owner myself.
They taught me that love requires sacrifice.
They taught me that responsibility doesn’t disappear because you’re tired.
They taught me that when people depend on you, you show up.
Today, I can say something I didn’t completely understand as a child:
I am grateful for the struggles I experienced growing up.
At the time, I didn’t understand why certain things had to be so difficult.
Today, I believe those struggles were preparing me.
I believe God’s plan is the perfect plan.
Not because life is always easy.
Not because everything happens the way we want.
But because sometimes the hardest seasons are the ones that teach us, humble us, strengthen us, and prepare us for what comes next.
By the time I was 18, I dreamed of owning a business.
I had the dream.
I just didn’t have the money.
So I worked.
Along the way, God put people in my path who helped guide me.
Ken Peters, my first boss and mentor in the painting trade, gave me an opportunity and taught me to take pride in the details and never cut corners.
Mr. George McCrary became another important mentor in my life. Some of his words still guide me today:
“Don’t confuse activity with productivity.”
“Be slow to speak and quick to listen.”
“God doesn’t waste pain—He uses it to shape you.”
Eventually, alongside my brother Israel, I took a leap of faith and started A Plus Decorating Inc.
We didn’t come from money.
We came with faith, work ethic, determination, and the desire to build something better.
What started with painting grew into drywall, carpentry, flooring, and remodeling.
Eventually, we established A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc., allowing us to specialize further in hardwood refinishing and installation, stairs and railings, LVP, laminate, tile, and other flooring services.
And now we are proud to continue building our newest company:
Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.
Sunny Creek gives us the opportunity to bring that same work ethic outside the home through lawn care, cleanups, mulch, grading, seeding, drainage improvements, paver repairs, planting, and other landscaping services.
Today, our family of companies includes:
A Plus Decorating Inc.
A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc.
Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.
Three companies.
Different services.
One foundation.
Hard work. Craftsmanship. Respect. Accountability. Faith. And earning the customer’s trust.
But as proud as I am of the businesses we are building, my greatest responsibility is still my family.
My wife and I are blessed with three beautiful daughters.
One is in college.
One is in high school.
And our youngest is in elementary school.
We are raising them to become educated, independent, successful, strong-minded women who know how to stand strong when life becomes complicated.
We know we cannot protect them from every disappointment or hardship.
But we can prepare them.
We can teach them to work hard.
To think for themselves.
To respect themselves and others.
To learn from their mistakes.
To keep their faith.
And when life knocks them down, to get back up.
I am incredibly blessed to have the family I have.
We are not perfect.
We don’t pretend to be.
We are a work in progress.
We are learning, growing, making mistakes, forgiving, improving, and continuing to move forward together.
One of the biggest reasons I continue pushing myself is because I know my daughters are watching.
Someday, when they look back at everything their mother and father built, I hope they don’t only see companies, trucks, jobs, or money.
I hope they remember the example.
The sacrifices.
The faith.
The difficult days.
The perseverance.
The mistakes.
The lessons.
And the refusal to give up.
Because I don’t simply want to leave my daughters businesses or money.
I want to leave them character, strength, education, opportunity, faith, independence, and the confidence to build successful lives of their own.
My long-term dream is to eventually become a home builder, bringing together everything we have learned through painting, flooring, remodeling, landscaping, and years of working on our customers’ properties.
I also hope to become a motivational speaker and mentor someday.
I want young people, immigrants, workers, entrepreneurs, and anyone starting from humble beginnings to understand:
Where you start does not have to determine where you finish.
You don’t have to come from money.
You don’t have to have everything figured out.
But you have to work.
You have to learn.
You have to listen.
You have to take responsibility.
You have to keep your faith.
And when life knocks you down—
Get back up.
There is also something very important I want to say publicly:
Thank you, Mom and Dad.
Thank you for your sacrifices.
Thank you for the long days.
Thank you for showing me what hard work looks like.
Thank you for teaching me about responsibility and family.
Thank you for teaching me to keep moving when life gets difficult.
And thank you for raising a strong man.
I would not be the husband, father, businessman, or person I am today without the foundation you gave me.
I will always be grateful.
Today, I don’t wish away the difficult parts of my childhood.
I am thankful for them.
Those struggles taught me lessons that comfort never could.
They built character.
They taught me gratitude.
They taught me perseverance.
They taught me to appreciate opportunities.
And they helped prepare me for the responsibilities I carry today.
God’s plan is greater than our understanding.
Sometimes we don’t understand a chapter of our lives until years later.
Today, I can say:
I am thankful for where I came from.
I am thankful for my parents.
I am thankful for my wife.
I am thankful for my daughters.
I am thankful for my family.
I am thankful for my mentors.
I am thankful for our employees.
And I am thankful for every customer who has trusted us with their home or property.
We are still growing.
We are still learning.
We are still improving.
And we still have a long road ahead.
But our commitment remains the same:
Do the job right.
Respect the customer’s property.
Communicate.
Take pride in the details.
Stand behind our work.
Never stop improving.
And never take someone’s trust for granted.
I started as a kid waking up at 1:30 in the morning to help his father deliver newspapers.
Today, together with my family and everyone who has believed in us, we are building something much bigger than I ever imagined.
Not just businesses.
We are building opportunities.
We are building relationships.
We are building a legacy for the next generation.
And most importantly—
We are building trust, one project at a time.

And I have faith in where God is leading us next.

Nuestra historia no comenzó con un negocio.
Comenzó con sacrificio.
Mi nombre es Chano Aniceto, fundador de A Plus Decorating Inc., A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc. y Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.
Cuando era niño y crecía en Arlington Heights, me levantaba alrededor de la 1:30 de la madrugada para repartir periódicos con mi papá.
No lo hacía por el dinero.
Lo hacía porque quería estar cerca de mi papá y ayudarlo.
Mi padre trabajaba dos empleos para mantener a nuestra familia de nueve personas, todos viviendo en un pequeño apartamento de dos recámaras.
Mi papá no era un hombre que siempre demostrara su amor con palabras.
Lo demostraba con sacrificio, responsabilidad y trabajo.
Esas madrugadas me enseñaron cosas que no comprendí completamente hasta convertirme en esposo, padre y dueño de negocios.
Me enseñaron que el amor requiere sacrificio.
Me enseñaron que las responsabilidades no desaparecen simplemente porque uno está cansado.
Y me enseñaron que cuando otras personas dependen de ti, tienes que estar presente y cumplir.
Hoy puedo decir algo que cuando era niño no entendía completamente:
Estoy agradecido por las dificultades que viví durante mi infancia.
En aquellos momentos no siempre entendía por qué ciertas cosas tenían que ser tan difíciles.
Hoy entiendo que muchas de esas dificultades me estaban preparando.
Creo firmemente que el plan de Dios es el plan perfecto.
No porque la vida siempre sea fácil.
No porque todo salga exactamente como queremos.
Sino porque muchas veces son las etapas más difíciles las que nos enseñan, nos hacen humildes, nos fortalecen y nos preparan para lo que viene después.
A los 18 años ya soñaba con tener mi propio negocio.
Tenía el sueño.
Lo que no tenía era el dinero.
Así que trabajé.
En el camino, Dios puso personas en mi vida que me ayudaron y me enseñaron.
Ken Peters, mi primer jefe y mentor en el oficio de la pintura, me dio una oportunidad y me enseñó a sentir orgullo por los detalles y a nunca tomar atajos.
El Sr. George McCrary también se convirtió en un mentor muy importante en mi vida. Algunas de sus palabras todavía me acompañan:
“No confundas estar ocupado con ser productivo.”
“Sé lento para hablar y rápido para escuchar.”
“Dios no desperdicia el dolor; lo utiliza para formarte.”
Con el tiempo, junto con mi hermano Israel, decidí dar un salto de fe y comenzar A Plus Decorating Inc.
No veníamos de dinero.
Pero teníamos fe, ganas de trabajar, determinación y el deseo de construir algo mejor.
Lo que comenzó con pintura fue creciendo hacia reparación de drywall, carpintería, pisos y remodelación.
Con el tiempo establecimos A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc., especializándonos aún más en instalación, lijado y restauración de pisos de madera, escaleras, barandales, LVP, laminado, azulejo y otros servicios de pisos.
Y ahora estamos orgullosos de continuar desarrollando nuestra compañía más reciente:
Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.
Sunny Creek nos permite llevar esa misma ética de trabajo al exterior de las propiedades con mantenimiento de césped, limpiezas, mulch, nivelación de terrenos, siembra, drenaje, reparación de adoquines, plantación y otros servicios de jardinería y paisajismo.
Hoy nuestra familia de compañías incluye:
A Plus Decorating Inc.
A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc.
Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.
Tres compañías.
Diferentes servicios.
Una misma base.
Trabajo duro. Calidad. Respeto. Responsabilidad. Fe. Y ganarnos la confianza de nuestros clientes.
Pero por muy orgulloso que me sienta de los negocios que estamos construyendo, mi responsabilidad más importante sigue siendo mi familia.
Mi esposa y yo hemos sido bendecidos con tres hermosas hijas.
Una está en la universidad.
Otra está en la preparatoria.
Y nuestra hija menor está en la primaria.
Las estamos criando para convertirse en mujeres educadas, independientes, exitosas y de mente fuerte, capaces de mantenerse firmes cuando la vida se complique.
Sabemos que no podemos protegerlas de todas las decepciones o dificultades.
Pero sí podemos prepararlas.
Podemos enseñarles a trabajar.
A pensar por sí mismas.
A respetarse y respetar a los demás.
A aprender de sus errores.
A mantener su fe.
Y cuando la vida las tumbe, a levantarse nuevamente.
Me siento increíblemente bendecido por la familia que tengo.
No somos perfectos.
Y tampoco pretendemos serlo.
Somos una familia en proceso.
Estamos aprendiendo, creciendo, cometiendo errores, perdonando, mejorando y tratando de seguir avanzando juntos.
Una de las razones más importantes por las que sigo esforzándome es porque sé que mis hijas me están observando.
Algún día, cuando miren hacia atrás y vean todo lo que su mamá y su papá construyeron, espero que no solamente vean compañías, camionetas, trabajos o dinero.
Espero que recuerden el ejemplo.
Los sacrificios.
La fe.
Los días difíciles.
La perseverancia.
Los errores.
Las lecciones.
Y que nunca nos dimos por vencidos.
Porque no solamente quiero dejarles negocios o dinero.
Quiero dejarles carácter, fortaleza, educación, oportunidades, fe, independencia y la confianza necesaria para construir sus propias vidas exitosas.
Uno de mis sueños a largo plazo es convertirme algún día en constructor de casas, reuniendo todo lo que hemos aprendido en pintura, pisos, remodelación y landscaping.
También espero algún día convertirme en orador motivacional y mentor.
Quiero que los jóvenes, inmigrantes, trabajadores, emprendedores y cualquier persona que venga de un origen humilde entiendan algo:
El lugar donde comienzas no tiene que determinar dónde vas a terminar.
No tienes que venir de una familia con dinero.
No tienes que tener todas las respuestas.
Pero tienes que trabajar.
Tienes que aprender.
Tienes que escuchar.
Tienes que aceptar responsabilidad.
Tienes que mantener tu fe.
Y cuando la vida te tumbe—
Levántate.
También hay algo muy importante que quiero decir públicamente:
Gracias, Mamá y Papá.
Gracias por todos sus sacrificios.
Gracias por esos días tan largos.
Gracias por enseñarme con su ejemplo lo que significa trabajar duro.
Gracias por enseñarme responsabilidad y el valor de la familia.
Gracias por enseñarme a seguir adelante cuando la vida se pone difícil.
Y gracias por haber criado a un hombre fuerte.
Yo no sería el esposo, padre, empresario o persona que soy hoy sin las bases que ustedes me dieron.
Siempre estaré agradecido.
Hoy no quisiera borrar las partes difíciles de mi infancia.
Estoy agradecido por ellas.
Esas dificultades me enseñaron cosas que una vida cómoda nunca me hubiera podido enseñar.
Me dieron carácter.
Me enseñaron gratitud.
Me enseñaron perseverancia.
Me enseñaron a valorar las oportunidades.
Y me ayudaron a prepararme para las responsabilidades que hoy llevo sobre mis hombros.
El plan de Dios es más grande que nuestro entendimiento.
A veces no entendemos un capítulo de nuestra vida hasta muchos años después.
Hoy puedo decir:
Estoy agradecido por mis raíces.
Estoy agradecido por mis padres.
Estoy agradecido por mi esposa.
Estoy agradecido por mis hijas.
Estoy agradecido por mi familia.
Estoy agradecido por mis mentores.
Estoy agradecido por nuestros trabajadores.
Y estoy agradecido con cada cliente que ha confiado en nosotros para trabajar en su hogar o propiedad.
Todavía estamos creciendo.
Todavía estamos aprendiendo.
Todavía estamos mejorando.
Y todavía tenemos un largo camino por recorrer.
Pero nuestro compromiso sigue siendo el mismo:
Hacer el trabajo correctamente.
Respetar la propiedad del cliente.
Comunicarnos.
Sentir orgullo por los detalles.
Responder por nuestro trabajo.
Nunca dejar de mejorar.
Y nunca dar por sentada la confianza de una persona.
Yo comencé siendo un niño que se levantaba a la 1:30 de la madrugada para ayudar a su papá a repartir periódicos.
Hoy, junto con mi familia y todas las personas que han creído en nosotros, estamos construyendo algo mucho más grande de lo que alguna vez imaginé.
No solamente estamos construyendo negocios.
Estamos creando oportunidades.
Estamos construyendo relaciones.
Estamos construyendo un legado para la próxima generación.
Y lo más importante—
Estamos construyendo confianza, un proyecto a la vez.
Estoy agradecido por nuestras raíces.
Estoy agradecido por dónde estamos hoy.
Y tengo fe en el camino por donde Dios nos llevará mañana.
