🇺🇸 ENGLISH — OUR STORY

Our story didn’t begin with a business.

It began with sacrifice.

My name is Chano Aniceto, founder of A Plus Decorating Inc., A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc., and Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.

Growing up in Arlington Heights, I used to wake up around 1:30 in the morning to deliver newspapers with my father.

I didn’t do it for the money.

I did it because I wanted to be close to my dad and help him.

My father worked two jobs to provide for our family of nine, all of us living in a small two-bedroom apartment. He wasn’t the kind of man who always expressed love with words.

He showed it through sacrifice, responsibility, and hard work.

Those early mornings taught me lessons I didn’t fully understand until I became a husband, father, and business owner myself.

They taught me that love requires sacrifice.

They taught me that responsibility doesn’t disappear because you’re tired.

They taught me that when people depend on you, you show up.

Today, I can say something I didn’t completely understand as a child:

I am grateful for the struggles I experienced growing up.

At the time, I didn’t understand why certain things had to be so difficult.

Today, I believe those struggles were preparing me.

I believe God’s plan is the perfect plan.

Not because life is always easy.

Not because everything happens the way we want.

But because sometimes the hardest seasons are the ones that teach us, humble us, strengthen us, and prepare us for what comes next.

By the time I was 18, I dreamed of owning a business.

I had the dream.

I just didn’t have the money.

So I worked.

Along the way, God put people in my path who helped guide me.

Ken Peters, my first boss and mentor in the painting trade, gave me an opportunity and taught me to take pride in the details and never cut corners.

Mr. George McCrary became another important mentor in my life. Some of his words still guide me today:

“Don’t confuse activity with productivity.”

“Be slow to speak and quick to listen.”

“God doesn’t waste pain—He uses it to shape you.”

Eventually, alongside my brother Israel, I took a leap of faith and started A Plus Decorating Inc.

We didn’t come from money.

We came with faith, work ethic, determination, and the desire to build something better.

What started with painting grew into drywall, carpentry, flooring, and remodeling.

Eventually, we established A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc., allowing us to specialize further in hardwood refinishing and installation, stairs and railings, LVP, laminate, tile, and other flooring services.

And now we are proud to continue building our newest company:

Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.

Sunny Creek gives us the opportunity to bring that same work ethic outside the home through lawn care, cleanups, mulch, grading, seeding, drainage improvements, paver repairs, planting, and other landscaping services.

Today, our family of companies includes:

A Plus Decorating Inc.
A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc.
Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.

Three companies.

Different services.

One foundation.

Hard work. Craftsmanship. Respect. Accountability. Faith. And earning the customer’s trust.

But as proud as I am of the businesses we are building, my greatest responsibility is still my family.

My wife and I are blessed with three beautiful daughters.

One is in college.

One is in high school.

And our youngest is in elementary school.

We are raising them to become educated, independent, successful, strong-minded women who know how to stand strong when life becomes complicated.

We know we cannot protect them from every disappointment or hardship.

But we can prepare them.

We can teach them to work hard.

To think for themselves.

To respect themselves and others.

To learn from their mistakes.

To keep their faith.

And when life knocks them down, to get back up.

I am incredibly blessed to have the family I have.

We are not perfect.

We don’t pretend to be.

We are a work in progress.

We are learning, growing, making mistakes, forgiving, improving, and continuing to move forward together.

One of the biggest reasons I continue pushing myself is because I know my daughters are watching.

Someday, when they look back at everything their mother and father built, I hope they don’t only see companies, trucks, jobs, or money.

I hope they remember the example.

The sacrifices.

The faith.

The difficult days.

The perseverance.

The mistakes.

The lessons.

And the refusal to give up.

Because I don’t simply want to leave my daughters businesses or money.

I want to leave them character, strength, education, opportunity, faith, independence, and the confidence to build successful lives of their own.

My long-term dream is to eventually become a home builder, bringing together everything we have learned through painting, flooring, remodeling, landscaping, and years of working on our customers’ properties.

I also hope to become a motivational speaker and mentor someday.

I want young people, immigrants, workers, entrepreneurs, and anyone starting from humble beginnings to understand:

Where you start does not have to determine where you finish.

You don’t have to come from money.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

But you have to work.

You have to learn.

You have to listen.

You have to take responsibility.

You have to keep your faith.

And when life knocks you down—

Get back up.

There is also something very important I want to say publicly:

Thank you, Mom and Dad.

Thank you for your sacrifices.

Thank you for the long days.

Thank you for showing me what hard work looks like.

Thank you for teaching me about responsibility and family.

Thank you for teaching me to keep moving when life gets difficult.

And thank you for raising a strong man.

I would not be the husband, father, businessman, or person I am today without the foundation you gave me.

I will always be grateful.

Today, I don’t wish away the difficult parts of my childhood.

I am thankful for them.

Those struggles taught me lessons that comfort never could.

They built character.

They taught me gratitude.

They taught me perseverance.

They taught me to appreciate opportunities.

And they helped prepare me for the responsibilities I carry today.

God’s plan is greater than our understanding.

Sometimes we don’t understand a chapter of our lives until years later.

Today, I can say:

I am thankful for where I came from.

I am thankful for my parents.

I am thankful for my wife.

I am thankful for my daughters.

I am thankful for my family.

I am thankful for my mentors.

I am thankful for our employees.

And I am thankful for every customer who has trusted us with their home or property.

We are still growing.

We are still learning.

We are still improving.

And we still have a long road ahead.

But our commitment remains the same:

Do the job right.
Respect the customer’s property.
Communicate.
Take pride in the details.
Stand behind our work.
Never stop improving.
And never take someone’s trust for granted.

I started as a kid waking up at 1:30 in the morning to help his father deliver newspapers.

Today, together with my family and everyone who has believed in us, we are building something much bigger than I ever imagined.

Not just businesses.

We are building opportunities.

We are building relationships.

We are building a legacy for the next generation.

And most importantly—

We are building trust, one project at a time.

I am grateful for where we came from.

I am grateful for where we are today.

And I have faith in where God is leading us next.

Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.

A Plus Decorating Inc.
A Plus Hardwood Floors Inc.
Sunny Creek Landscaping Inc.

Tres compañías.

Diferentes servicios.

Una misma base.

Trabajo duro. Calidad. Respeto. Responsabilidad. Fe.

Podemos enseñarles a trabajar.

No somos perfectos.

Y tampoco pretendemos serlo.

Me dieron carácter.

Me enseñaron gratitud.

Me enseñaron perseverancia.

No solamente estamos construyendo negocios.

Estamos creando oportunidades.

Estamos construyendo relaciones.

🔨 DRYWALL CEILING REPAIR IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS & PALATINE, IL

Is your drywall ceiling sagging, cracking, showing nail pops, or separating at the seams? Don’t just patch it and paint over it. If the drywall is loose, the problem needs to be repaired correctly first.

At A Plus Decorating Inc., we specialize in sagging drywall ceiling repair, ceiling reinforcement, drywall crack repair, drywall replacement, and interior painting in Arlington Heights, Palatine, and surrounding areas.

🏠 HOW DO YOU FIX A SAGGING DRYWALL CEILING THE RIGHT WAY?

Depending on the condition of the ceiling, our process may include:

✔️ Locate the ceiling joists and framing
✔️ Inspect for moisture or water damage
✔️ Reinforce loose drywall with properly placed drywall screws
✔️ Remove failing tape and loose joint compound
✔️ Repair settlement cracks and damaged drywall joints
✔️ Replace sections of drywall that are too damaged or bowed to save
✔️ Re-tape and apply multiple coats of drywall compound
✔️ Feather and sand the repairs for a smooth transition
✔️ Match the existing ceiling texture when needed
✔️ Prime repaired areas with the proper primer
✔️ Professionally repaint the ceiling for a uniform finish

⚠️ MORE SCREWS AREN’T ALWAYS THE ANSWER.

If the drywall has been sagging for years, has moisture damage, or has become badly bowed, reinforcing it may not be enough. The damaged section may need to be removed and replaced.

A proper drywall repair should address why the ceiling is sagging, not simply cover the problem with compound and paint.

A Beautiful Paint Job Isn’t Finished Until Your Home Is Clean

Many homeowners think a painting project ends when the final coat of paint dries.

At A Plus Decorating Inc., that’s only part of the job.

We believe a truly professional painting experience includes exceptional preparation, expert craftsmanship, premium materials, and a thorough cleanup before we consider the project complete.

Preparation Is the Key to Long-Lasting Results

Every successful paint job starts long before the first coat of paint is applied.

We carefully inspect your walls and ceilings to determine not only what needs to be repaired, but why the damage occurred.

Our preparation may include:

✔ Cosmetic drywall repairs, including nail holes, settlement cracks, drywall tape repairs, and skim coating.

✔ Structural drywall evaluations to determine whether loose drywall panels should be reinforced with modern drywall screws or replaced.

✔ Spot priming repaired areas and sealing stains using Sherwin-Williams ProBlock® Oil-Based Primer.

✔ Dust-controlled sanding using Festool drywall sanders connected to Festool HEPA dust extractors.

✔ Plastic containment walls built with ZipWall® systems to help isolate work areas.

✔ Plastic sheeting to protect furniture, cabinets, countertops, and personal belongings.

✔ Masonite floor protection to protect hardwood floors, tile, and finished flooring from ladders and heavy traffic.

✔ Professional lighting to inspect every wall and ceiling for imperfections before painting begins.

Premium Paints for Beautiful, Durable Results

Once the preparation is complete, we use premium coatings from Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, selecting the right products for each surface.

Our preferred products include:

Ceilings
• Sherwin-Williams CHB Flat

Walls
• Sherwin-Williams Duration® Home Matte
• Sherwin-Williams Emerald® Designer Edition
• Benjamin Moore Regal® Select
• Benjamin Moore Aura®

Trim, Doors & Woodwork
• Sherwin-Williams Emerald® Urethane Trim Enamel

Using high-quality products together with proper preparation helps produce a finish that looks beautiful and performs well for years.

Our Job Isn’t Finished Until Your Home Is Clean

One thing that truly separates A Plus Decorating Inc. from many contractors is what happens after the painting is complete.

We don’t simply remove our tools and leave.

We believe your home should be returned to you in clean, orderly condition.

As part of our final cleanup, we:

✔ Carefully move furniture back to its original location.

✔ Remove all plastic sheeting, masking materials, and floor protection.

✔ Thoroughly vacuum the work areas.

✔ Dust and clean light fixtures.

✔ Wipe down door jambs.

✔ Dust window sills.

✔ Clean the top edges of window casings and door casings.

✔ Remove dust from the tops of kitchen cabinets and other accessible surfaces affected by the work.

✔ Perform a final walkthrough to make sure the project is complete and the work area is clean.

We know that drywall repairs and painting can create dust, even when using modern dust-control equipment. That’s why we take the extra time to clean the areas we’ve worked in before we consider the project finished.

More Than a Painting Company

When you hire A Plus Decorating Inc., you’re not just hiring an experienced drywall repair and interior painting contractor.

You’re hiring a team that believes in protecting your home, respecting your belongings, using premium materials, paying attention to every detail, and leaving your home clean when the project is complete.

Our goal is simple: deliver a beautiful finish, lasting craftsmanship, and an outstanding customer experience from start to finish.

We proudly provide professional interior painting, drywall repair, ceiling repair, drywall replacement, and surface preparation services throughout Arlington Heights, Palatine, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Wheeling, Hoffman Estates, Barrington, North Barrington, Lake Zurich, Wauconda, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Libertyville, Glenview, Cary, Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Hanover Park, Roselle, Schaumburg, Bartlett, Inverness, Long Grove, Deer Park, Kildeer, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lincolnshire, and surrounding Chicagoland communities.

Drywall Repairs Before Painting: Why Proper Ceiling Repairs Matter

When homeowners search for drywall repair near me, ceiling repair, or interior painting contractors, they often believe drywall preparation only involves filling nail holes, repairing settlement cracks, sanding, priming, and painting.

While those repairs are important, they only address the surface.

At A Plus Decorating Inc., we believe the most important part of drywall repair is determining why the damage occurred in the first place. Repairing cracks without correcting the underlying cause often leads to the same problems returning months or years later.

Why Do Older Drywall Ceilings Sag?

Many homes built before the late 1990s and early 2000s were constructed using drywall nails instead of today’s modern drywall screw systems. Although drywall nails met building standards at the time, they do not provide the same long-term holding power as modern drywall screws.

Over the years, several factors place continuous stress on those original fasteners, including:

✔ Normal settling of the home

✔ Seasonal expansion and contraction

✔ Changes in humidity

✔ Temperature fluctuations in the attic

✔ The weight of insulation resting above the ceiling

✔ Everyday movement and vibration throughout the home

As these forces continue year after year, drywall nails gradually lose their grip, allowing the drywall panels to slowly separate from the ceiling joists. This movement often leads to sagging ceilings, visible drywall joints, recurring cracks, and nail pops.

Signs Your Ceiling May Need More Than Basic Drywall Repairs

Many homeowners believe they only have cosmetic drywall damage when the drywall panels themselves have actually become loose.

Common warning signs include:

• Long cracks along drywall joints

• Nail pops throughout the ceiling

• Rounded dimples that resemble hammer marks

• Drywall seams becoming visible

• Slight waves or curves across the ceiling

• Ceiling sections that appear lower than surrounding areas

• Joint tape separating from the drywall

• Cracks that continue returning after previous repairs

Those small rounded dimples are often mistaken for missed hammer strikes during construction. In many cases, they are actually drywall nails beginning to release from the framing as the ceiling slowly moves downward.

Why Simply Patching the Cracks Doesn’t Last

Many contractors repair only what is visible by applying joint compound, sanding, priming, and painting.

The ceiling may look beautiful when the work is finished, but if the drywall panels continue moving because they have pulled away from the framing, the repaired joints are placed under stress again and the cracks often return.

That’s why it’s critical to identify the cause of the problem before beginning cosmetic repairs.

Our Professional Drywall Repair Process

Every ceiling is different.

Before beginning repairs, we inspect the drywall to determine whether the panels can still be securely reattached to the framing.

When appropriate, our repair process includes:

• Locating the ceiling joists

• Reinforcing loose drywall panels with modern drywall screws

• Countersinking the screws properly

• Repairing nail pops

• Rebuilding damaged drywall joints

• Applying multiple coats of joint compound

• Sanding between coats

• Priming repaired areas

• Applying premium Sherwin-Williams ceiling paint

By stabilizing the drywall before repairing the surface, we provide a much stronger and longer-lasting repair.

When Ceiling Replacement Is the Only Long-Term Solution

Unfortunately, not every sagging ceiling can be repaired.

Some drywall panels have sagged for decades and have permanently bowed between the ceiling joists. Once drywall loses its flexibility and takes on a permanent curve, drywall screws cannot pull it back into a perfectly flat position.

Trying to force bowed drywall back against the framing can result in additional cracking, broken drywall, uneven ceilings, and visible waves after painting.

When this happens, complete drywall replacement is the only long-term solution.

Why Ceiling Replacement Often Includes New Insulation

Many homeowners are surprised to learn that replacing ceiling drywall often requires replacing the insulation above it.

In most homes, attic insulation rests directly on top of the ceiling drywall. Once the drywall panels are removed, the insulation loses its support and typically comes down with the drywall.

Depending on its age and condition, the insulation often cannot be reused effectively.

Replacing the insulation at the same time provides an excellent opportunity to improve your home’s energy efficiency, comfort, and overall insulation performance.

Invest in Repairs That Last

A quality paint job begins with a properly repaired surface.

Repairing the symptoms without addressing the cause often leads to recurring drywall cracks, nail pops, and expensive repainting.

Whether your ceiling can be reinforced with drywall screws or requires complete replacement, a thorough inspection is the key to choosing the right long-term solution.

At A Plus Decorating Inc., we specialize in diagnosing drywall problems before painting so our customers receive repairs designed to last—not just temporary cosmetic fixes.

We proudly provide drywall repair, ceiling repair, sagging ceiling repair, drywall replacement, nail pop repair, settlement crack repair, drywall finishing, insulation replacement, and interior painting services throughout Arlington Heights, Palatine, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Wheeling, Hoffman Estates, Barrington, North Barrington, Lake Zurich, Wauconda, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Libertyville, Glenview, Cary, Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Hanover Park, Roselle, Schaumburg, Bartlett, Inverness, Long Grove, Deer Park, Kildeer, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lincolnshire, and surrounding Chicagoland communities.
