🚨 Electrical Hazard Alert: This Should NEVER Happen 🚨
We’re currently fixing a serious safety issue left behind by a local bath remodeling company — and we’re sharing this as a precaution for homeowners in our area.
In one job, a customer had a tub-to-shower conversion done. Instead of properly relocating the sidewall exhaust fan, the installers slapped up a new shower wall, cut a hole over the existing fan, and mounted the shower head inches away from live electrical wiring.
💦 Running water
⚡ Live electricity
📍 Inches apart — in the shower
This is not safe, not to code, and absolutely unacceptable. That fan should’ve been relocated to the ceiling or removed entirely. Instead, it was boxed in behind plastic — still energized and directly exposed to water.
To top it off, the company said they had “a buddy” who could come back and take care of the electrical later. He never showed. No follow-up. No license. No accountability.
They took the quick-and-cheap route — and nearly created a disaster.
🔌 Separate job, similar story:
Another customer asked the same company if they could move a ceiling fan while remodeling. Instead of bringing in an electrician, one of their installers decided to “give it a try.” They didn’t shut off the power, cut into live wiring, and got shocked in the process.
We were called in after the fact to fix their mistake and safely rewire and remount the fan. But since this wasn’t part of the original job quote, we had to bill the customer directly — which came as a frustrating surprise.
⚠️ Here’s the bottom line:
If you’re mid-remodel and something feels off — trust your gut. Electrical work is no place to cut corners.
If someone doing work in your home says, “I’ve got a buddy who can handle that electrical,” or if they start doing wiring themselves...
✅ Ask for a business name
✅ Ask if they’re licensed and insured
✅ Get proof before they touch a single wire
💸 A patch job may look finished — but behind the walls, it could be risky and expensive to fix later.
They cover it up. We make it safe, up to code, and built to last.
