Because I love pollinators… Because I value my time… Because I don’t feel I have to keep up with the Joneses or compete against the Peterson’s!

This is called a “bee lawn.” A bee lawn is an eco-friendly, low-maintenance alternative to traditional grass monocultures. It integrates low-growing, pollinator-friendly flowers (like Dutch white clover, self-heal, and creeping thyme) with durable turfgrasses. It requires less watering, fertilizing, and mowing while actively supporting local pollinators and biodiversity.

We’ve been noticing a trend in the industry… AI. Not just clients, but landscape companies, turning to Artificial Intelligence to create plans. In some cases, we are seeing a decent “start” to a solution, but nothing that could meet the nuances a real, skilled Landscape Architect incorporates.

AI can paint a “pretty picture” but is incapable of contemplating drainage patterns, compensating for variations in soil makeup, engineering for environmental deviations, or even accurately plan for elevation changes. That doesn’t even include designing for harmonizing materials based on color, texture, bloom cycles, foliage and bloom heights, or snow load.

We LOVE technology… AutoCAD was one of the greatest inventions for improving the accuracy of our plans, but AI will probably never be more than a conceptual tool in a “conditions-driven” industry, like landscape architecture. So go ahead and play. Have fun dreaming. When you’re ready, we’ll be ready to work with you to smooth out the rough edges and make your plan come to reality… or… Hire us from the start to do the intellectual work to give you the design of your dreams AND manage the installation so you get EXACTLY what you are dreaming of.

The lilacs are pushing! With this past week’s heat, we should see blooms by the end of next week… first week of May at the latest. Just a reminder, DO NOT PRUNE until after blooming or you will lose all of this year’s flowers. LILACS bloom on last season’s growth ONLY. Have a great spring, friends!
