While driving yesterday down WI-49, our crew made an unexpected stop as they saw a fire roaring from a farm tractor. A few other farmers onsite had small fire extinguishers with them but the fire was burning faster than they could put it out. Ironically, we were towing our hydro jetter full of water and made the decision to stop and help. Please note, we do NOT recommend this method of containing a tractor fire and strongly advise you to call for help.

While standing back and forcing 18gpm of water onto this burning tractor, we had success in suppressing the fire. These farm machines are $300k+, and while it will need some repairs, it won't be a total loss to the farmer.

The farmer was incredibly grateful for saving his tractor. No one was hurt during any of this. Fire was caused by silage buildup near the exhaust pipe. Our goal was to blast the silage out of the exhaust with high pressure water to stop the igniting process and then put the fire out, as well as, keep the tires cool to prevent them from exploding. Our tech, who is pictured, was a former EMT with some knowledge of containing stressful situations like this. Again, we do NOT recommend you attempt this but rather you call for help. We are grateful for our crew to be passing by and stopping to assist with this emergency. Great job ! Just for the record, we would much rather help with cleaning their farm lines!

This particular project was a tricky one with the customer's sewer lateral being a shared lateral. We pipebursted from the customers home to the side street, approximately 130 feet. Working with our subcontractor, Wagner Utility & Excavating, LLC, this project was completed in a day with little interference to the customer on the usage of their lateral.
