Edges vs. Radius — What’s the Difference? 🤔
One of the most common questions we get is, “What’s the difference between an edge and a radius?” Here’s a simple breakdown:
🔹 Edge Profile
The edge is the shape of the countertop’s perimeter. It’s what you see and feel along the front of your countertop. Popular edge profiles include:
• Eased – clean, modern, and slightly softened corners
• 1/2 Bullnose – rounded top edge with a softer appearance
• 1/4 Bevel – angled edge for a crisp, contemporary look
🔹 Radius
The radius refers to the curve of a corner, not the edge. Instead of having a sharp 90° corner, the corner is rounded for safety, durability, and style.
Common corner radii:
• 3/4” Radius – subtle curve
• 1” Radius – the most popular choice
• 2” Radius – softer, more noticeable curve
• 4” Radius – large, sweeping curve for a bold look
💡 Think of it this way:
Edge = the profile around the countertop.
Radius = the roundness of the corner.
Both can be customized to create the perfect look for your kitchen, bathroom, or commercial space.
