Rufus is one of our OG hens! She is a prarie bluebell egger and lays a beautiful blue egg 🩵

Her brown to grey fade seems to be a very dominant feature!

Last year, she was bred to bluey (my grey prarie bluebell egger) which created a more grey version of herself! (And kept the egg very blue!)

This year she was bred to Rex (my black tailed red marans rooster) which made her egg darker/olive colored. Rex is all red, so the offspring of his made her babies more red!

Genetics is fun to play with! Both turned out so pretty!

With how many dahlias I collected (for my second year of dahlias 😆), I decided to do am ambre pattern so there was some order in the garden. And I love how it turned out!! Do you like chaos planting? Or do you try to organize??

Just a simple walk through the woods. Relaxed and loose reins (well not really any reins 🤣). It was worth a try to see if we can go bridleless! Seems like the answer is no, we cannot hahaha
