It's a HOT one today! ๐ฅต๐ฅ On days like this, your AC is working EXTRA hard to keep up...please don't under-estimate how effective some of these tips can be to keep your house cool. AND help your AC work more efficiently! ๐ชโ๏ธ
โ๏ธ Close ALL blinds, curtains and exterior doors! Over 75% of the sunlight that comes through a standard, double-pane window becomes heat inside your home.
โ๏ธ Use your ceiling fans wisely! Ceiling fans donโt lower the temp, but they make you feel cooler by circulating air. Set fans to rotate counterclockwise and raise your thermostat a few degrees without losing comfort.
โ๏ธ Don't use heat-producing appliances during the day. Running the oven, dryer, or dishwasher during the hottest part of the day adds a lot of heat to your home. Eat out, save the laundry for the evening and run the dishwasher overnight!
โ๏ธ Give your outdoor unit some SHADE! If your ACโs outdoor unit is located in a shady spot, it wonโt have to work as hard to cool air as it would in direct sunlight. Put up an outdoor umbrella to cast some shade on the unit. Just make sure the unit has at least one foot of horizontal clearance and five feet of vertical clearance.
